To ask MN to answer the one question all my family has failed on in this Christmas sweet quiz?

So in the end we managed to answer all but this: Rubbish or nonsense. Answer is a sweet or chocolate. Any ideas? And if anyone else is struggling with the last question on their quizzes, feel free to post!

Humbug isn't chocolate though

Trews2019 · 26/12/2019 15:33

Can’t believe this is still going - the clue said chocolate or sweet!

Yeah, humbug's a boiled sweet, nothing like chocolate. I won't say it can't be that, but it shouldn't.

Mind you fudge isn't "a" chocolate as such, although you can get it either chocolate flavour or chocolate coated, of course. It's a closer fit though.

Chihaha · 26/12/2019 20:51

OR not and!!!

hazeyjane · 26/12/2019 20:59

Rubbish or nonsense. Answer is a sweet or chocolate.
Dictionary definition of Humbug
...."Ahumbugis a hard, striped sweet thattastesof peppermint."...."..nonsense or rubbish"

Clawdy · 26/12/2019 21:11

But it's NOT chocolate.......that was misleading.

bridgetreilly · 26/12/2019 21:59

It wasn't misleading. OP never says it had to be chocolate. It had to be a sweet OR chocolate. FFS.

Clawdy · 26/12/2019 23:03

I know, but it can't be chocolate, so why have that as part of answer??! Xmas Sad

bridgetreilly · 26/12/2019 23:25

Because all the answers in the quiz were sweets or chocolates and since the OP didn't know the answer she didn't know which it was. This really isn't that hard.

I blame the school curriculum.

UnWilly · 27/12/2019 01:35

Is it Boswell?

WeGoHigher · 27/12/2019 01:36

Gove is to blame.

sashh · 27/12/2019 01:39

Lol @UnWilly

steff13 · 27/12/2019 01:41

Why would you do a quiz where you didn't have access to the answers? I would find that frustrating.

Procrastination4 · 27/12/2019 02:15

Why not? Sometimes answers are published at a later date. Delayed gratification is good for you!

steff13 · 27/12/2019 03:12

Because I would find it frustrating. I thought that was clear, since that's what I said. 🤷

How is Poppycock a sweet or chocolate? Do people actually read the OPs?

Butteredtoast55 · 27/12/2019 20:31

Some of the responses on this thread have actually made me laugh out loud with incredulity and at some posters’ ability to deal with the humbug of others.

Anniegetyourgun · 27/12/2019 21:03

O right, I read that wrong then, if it could be either a sweet or chocolate, not both. Of course. Humbug it is then!

There is too a sweet called Poppycock, my mother used to buy it as an occasional treat because it was expensive; a toffee, popcorn and pecan mix, came in a tin. Not widely available perhaps, and I'd be very surprised if it were an answer to a quiz.

PuppyMonkey · 27/12/2019 21:12

This thread is gold.Grin

Funniest bit is the OP saying she was focussed on rubbish as in debris - but why would debris go with “nonsense”? Grin
