So in the end we managed to answer all but this: Rubbish or nonsense. Answer is a sweet or chocolate. Any ideas? And if anyone else is struggling with the last question on their quizzes, feel free to post!

Humbug

BarbaraofSeville · 26/12/2019 13:33

I used a crossword solver to also come up with humbug, but I don't equate that with rubbish or nonsense Confused

OverUnderSidewaysDown · 26/12/2019 13:35

Humbug

refusetobeasheep · 26/12/2019 13:35

Don't think trifle or humbug really cuts it .... any other ideas?

Yes it means nonsense/rubbish. As used by Scrooge concerning Christmas. And more recently by our “Prime Minister” when responding to concerns over the personal safety of female MPs.

smemorata · 26/12/2019 13:37

Humbug sounds exactly right - why not?

bridgetreilly · 26/12/2019 13:38

Humbug. Means rubbish or nonsense. As in, "Bah, humbug."

RollingOutOfBed · 26/12/2019 13:38

Humbug.

“ Boris Johnson has sparked “horrendous” scenes in the Commons after responding to the pleas of friends of murdered MP Jo Cox to tone down his language by describing them as “humbug”.

A fractious Brexit debate reached its nadir as the prime minister dismissed requests from Labour MP Paula Sherriff to stop using the language of “surrender” and “betrayal” because it is reflected in the daily death threats and abuse she receives.

“I have never heard such humbug in all my life,” the PM said.”

Fucker.

Chihaha · 26/12/2019 13:40

Humbug

Could also be fudge?

WomanInTheWindow · 26/12/2019 13:43

That is exactly what humbug means!

adaline · 26/12/2019 13:45

Humbug. It literally means "nonsense/rubbish".

LaMarschallin · 26/12/2019 13:48

Is the quiz generally about sweets and/or chocolates or does the question specify that the answer could be a chocolate as well as a sweet?

If the former, "humbug" sounds right.
If the latter, it isn't right as a humbug isn't a chocolate.

halocompanach · 26/12/2019 13:56

Peppermint cream

halocompanach · 26/12/2019 13:57

Oh I didn't see the rubbish or nonsense bit...so my reply was rubbish and nonsense.
Agree with humbug.

BillHadersNewWife · 26/12/2019 14:07

Of course humbug cuts it! It's the correct answer without a doubt!

Eugenieonegin · 26/12/2019 14:07

Another vote for Humbug.

Thelnebriati · 26/12/2019 14:08
