So in the end we managed to answer all but this: Rubbish or nonsense. Answer is a sweet or chocolate. Any ideas? And if anyone else is struggling with the last question on their quizzes, feel free to post!

Peppermint cream Grin

I like the sound of a sweet called Hokum.

DramaAlpaca · 26/12/2019 14:13

Of course it's humbug. The meaning fits perfectly.

Twooter · 26/12/2019 14:13

Toxic waster

LH1987 · 26/12/2019 14:14

Toffee? As in ‘that’s a load of toffee’, although I’m not sure that’s even a thing!

Chunkers · 26/12/2019 14:16

If you look up synonyms of rubbish and nonsense, toffee appears in both lists.

SeaToSki · 26/12/2019 14:17

Toffee.

Ive never heard nonsense or rubbish referred to as toffee, but its in my synonym finder. You can definitely get chocolate toffee and its very sweet

WeGoHigher · 26/12/2019 14:17

I thought humbug meant false, dishonest?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 26/12/2019 14:23

My first thought was toffee.

Thelnebriati · 26/12/2019 14:23

Bet you a tenner its hokum.

refusetobeasheep · 26/12/2019 14:27

Hmm guess I was focussed on rubbish being debris ... unbelievable, we came up with humbug yesterday but all decided was wrong ... but happy to be put right today!

I thought humbug meant false, dishonest?

Indeed it does. Interesting to see so many people confidently proclaiming it means nonsense.

ArnoldBee · 26/12/2019 14:34

Have none of you ever had a chocolate humbug?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/12/2019 14:40

Eclair

Hokum?

Tistheseason17 · 26/12/2019 14:46

I think it is fudge
The word "fudge" meant nonsence before it became a type of sweet

Google it.

bridgetreilly · 26/12/2019 14:48

Interesting to see so many people confidently proclaiming it means nonsense.

Something which is false and untrue is rubbish or nonsense.

changeorendure · 26/12/2019 14:48

When I looked up definition of humbug - it said deceptive or false talk or behaviour.

I think 'rubbish and nonsense' is also a type of deceptive or false talk - so could still be humbug.

SheSaidHummingbird · 26/12/2019 14:50

Bounty. Because they're rubbish, always the only chocolates left in the box, and it's nonsense that they insist on including them in the selection at all.

ChrismArseDarkly · 26/12/2019 14:51

I'd say def Toffee - it's pretty old-fashioned but fits well as it's a sweet and a chocolate

ChrismArseDarkly · 26/12/2019 14:52

I mean old-fashioned to use it to mean rubbish/nonsense

sobeyondthehills · 26/12/2019 14:52

Poppycock

Radardodgingninga · 26/12/2019 14:57

I’d buy a box of just Bountys if I could. . We always leave the Mars and the Galaxy truffles. I save them and the toffees from Quality St until I have enough to fill a tub and take them to a children’s centre I work at!

lowlandLucky · 26/12/2019 15:04

Humbug

Tartyflette · 26/12/2019 15:07

Waffle?
