To ask what does your DH/DP do for a living?

Was married to someone for 6 years who did fuck all in or out of the house. He's very workshy and his lack of ambition and laziness killed any love I had for him. I couldn't respect him. Funny enough I was made to feel a 'gold digger' Hmm Never again.

So I'm just curious, what does your DH do for a living?

OP posts:

My DH is in the creative industry (think actor/writer/comedian). He earns decent money but it takes over his life (and I'm left mopping up after the kids)

NoSauce · 26/12/2019 16:50

Why do you really want to know?

Last time I mentioned DH’s job on here I had a PM within 30 mins from someone saying “I know who you are”. It’s pretty niche. I’m in NHS management in case you’re interested Grin.

DH works for the railway, in a senior and specialist job. Earns considerably more than me (and I'm not badly paid). He also works very hard, absolutely pulls his weight round the house and is an all round lovely bloke - those are the bits that matter, much more than his paycheque.

purplelila2 · 26/12/2019 17:12

Works in a supermarket! nights

We have no childcare or local family so he does nights so he can be around to do the school run and school holidays.

I work in the day in an office.

PlugUgly1980 · 26/12/2019 17:18

Qualified Accountant, working as a Finance Manager, but despite his qualification I earn marginally more than him in Marketing in the same industry but as a Senior Manager in my profession. To some extent it's the luck of the draw based on the availability of opportunities for career progression. Neither of us earn £70k each, but we live in a reasonably cheap area up North and have a very comfortable lifestyle, where overall neither of us work more than our contracted full time hours each week, give or take the odd seasonal fluctuation in our work). We're both extremely happy with our careers and feel lucky to be in the position we are with two young children.

He sells things to other businesses. I don't know exactly what because it's very dull and I tend to fall asleep half way through his explanation. He also has a volunteering role.
