Was married to someone for 6 years who did fuck all in or out of the house. He's very workshy and his lack of ambition and laziness killed any love I had for him. I couldn't respect him. Funny enough I was made to feel a 'gold digger' Hmm Never again.

So I'm just curious, what does your DH do for a living?

@LaMarschallin - Xmas Grin your post gave me a proper chuckle - thanks!

mummypigx · 26/12/2019 15:53

Investment banker. Mergers & Acquisitions to be precise.

mummypigx · 26/12/2019 16:03

@BathshebaAndGabriel my H is also an investment banker. No need to leave the UK because of Brexit Confused?! He can still live here and do deals globally, no? There was a worry about a no-deal Brexit and they'd not be regulated to work in Europe but that was unlikely to happen. Where did you move to?

TimeforanotherChange · 26/12/2019 16:06

Steel erector. Builds massive sheds and clads them. Not glamorous, not well paid. Long hours and hard labour.

He’s setting up a trading desk. They’ve moved their European HQ so it’s in a European country.
Dublin. He’s commutes back and forth. Myself and the children have stayed in England.
No one is going to shed any tears for a banker though!

Musicalmistress · 26/12/2019 16:27

@Bezalelle That's great to see - definitely need more positive male role models in Early Years! (I'm a Depute head responsible for our Early Years setting)

DH is also a teacher, previously in senior management but had burnt out so went back into classroom and is loving it - I've got my happy man back!

nokidshere · 26/12/2019 16:30

, but my favourite is watching TV with him as he comments on the standard of the finish

DH retired exactly a year ago today from his H&S position but we still have a running commentary when watching tv about the 'right' fire extinguishers or the unsuitability of scaffolding!

DonutMan · 26/12/2019 16:31

To whoever mentioned binmen, I know a few commercial waste drivers who earn £35k, some a little more. It's not a lowly paid job by any means.

tessiegirl · 26/12/2019 16:34
