To ask what does your DH/DP do for a living?

Was married to someone for 6 years who did fuck all in or out of the house. He's very workshy and his lack of ambition and laziness killed any love I had for him. I couldn't respect him. Funny enough I was made to feel a 'gold digger' Hmm Never again.

So I'm just curious, what does your DH do for a living?

Minister (church not government!).

heyyouwhatsthatsound · 27/12/2019 23:34

Ex was a banker then lost that job and eventually became a police officer. I bent over backwards to support him through years of crap jobs and studies.

Dp is a self employed massage therapist and personal chef. Very independent and enthusiastic about life. A very nice combination 😉

I have enjoyed reading what everyone’s partners do for a living and yourselves, of course.

You and your DP have interesting jobs, many of which, I’m genuinely curious about.

My OH is a merchandise analyst and I’m a nursery teacher. Neither are glamorous, or well paid positions, but we make enough to keep ourselves and our family healthy and happy and that’s all we need.

Unemployed. The company he worked for was bought out and they already had a sales rep in his area.
They told us a week before my planned caesarean and 5 weeks before Christmas.
Needless to say - very stressed and worried about money.

  • normal jobs in sight, everyone is on the Forbes rich list by the sounds of it*

There is always so much selective reading on MN. I ave seen ( from memory.as I can't be bothered to go.theoughr the thread again )
Electrician
Military
Bricklayer
Retired a coupe.od times
HGV driver
Early years practioner
Railway track maintenance worker
Bouncer
I am only up to page 4 of 21 pages and I said it is from memory. Yes plenty of more highy paid jobs and ' made up fantasist owns as well but to make commets like in the first couple.of pages of this thread just shows your own prejudice or ideas about MN.

I had a dp like that, no ambition, happy to spend every evening falling asleep on his mum’s sofa watching tv. Lots of dead end jobs that he couldn’t stick with. I got rid, was told by a few people including my sister I’d never find anyone as good as him!!

Met dh who was a builders labourer. I was working in film as an art director. Everyone told me he was a gold digger. He had tons of ambition and drive, absolute opposite of previous dp. He started his own company, I supported him and company financially for first 5 years. He has now been a company director for 14 years, company valued at £25m, I own 25% due to investing in early days. I’m now told I’m a gold digger as I quit film when kids born and run a small company from home.

We’re a team, that’s main difference I think, and that we’re both ambitious.

Is mumsnet (or some independent) just trying to conduct their own marketing survey on the cheap? I don’t understand this post.
OP posts once and doesn’t return to comment (after I flicked thru 21 pages of mostly “dull” ...)
WHY?
And someone else has researched and discovered that OP has never posted before. Their Name of boxingdaysales is suspicious because of timing. Why are so many of us keen to divulge info to someone who doesn’t give us any pointers back as to where they are taking their Q? They don’t seem invested in their dilemma, at all.
And then Mumsnet goes and chooses it in their email highlights as a top thread? I have a ghasted flabber.

StickleTick · 28/12/2019 09:39

Oh, but if anyone wants to know? my DH is very lazy at this time of year. He regularly uses the excuse that he eats too much over Christmas and is way too heavy to work. I know doing only night shifts is tough, and keeping up with the new child protection rules and regulations can be a bit onerous, but he’s the only Ivory collector I know, so the disappointment out there until the fat git goes on a diet must be huge!
