Was married to someone for 6 years who did fuck all in or out of the house. He's very workshy and his lack of ambition and laziness killed any love I had for him. I couldn't respect him. Funny enough I was made to feel a 'gold digger' Hmm Never again.

So I'm just curious, what does your DH do for a living?

He's an engineer, mostly writes programs and code for big machinery.

WelcomeToShootingStars · 27/12/2019 07:40

Also, we both work similar hours now (I used to work a hell of a lot more) and he's great around the house, probably does more than I do. Also looks after his own admin shit, buys gifts for his family and is thoughtful without needing prompt.

He works the school equivalent of full time as a one to one special needs teaching assistant working with children with Autism or behavioral difficulties. He's great at his job and loves it but he doesn't earn enough to even pay tax. At the moment is working with a violent child so this term he's been bitten, kicked, scratched and punched. There's definitely not enough appreciation of the work people like him do.

I work in finance and am the main earner. Don't mind though and certainly wouldn't want to swap jobs with him!

RoyEastmannKodak · 27/12/2019 17:23

DP has done many things from Barman to international logistics manager. Currently a SAHD and is looking to go back to some sort of work next year. It’s worked well for us. However, being a SAHD he does do the absolute majority of all housework.
