I’m broken. Anyone used a sleep consultant before?

Sat here in tears. I’m utterly broken.

Assume I’ve tried everything, and am at end of my rope.

Anyone used a sleep consultant and it been worth it? Do they just give you a step by step programme you can google (and have tried already) yourself?

Worst Christmas Day ever.

I used Andrea Grace as I was absolutely desperate and my mental health was in an awful state due to sleep deprivation.

You certainly don’t need to give up breastfeeding. If you are happy to continue then that is nobody’s choice but yours. I breastfed well beyond sleep training.

It did however involve night weaning (so not feeding from bedtime to morning time).

It did involve crying but not cry it out. Like going in and out every few minutes until he fell asleep. To be honest I did struggle with that because I hated him crying. But it did dramatically improve his sleep. There have been relapses and now I actually don’t use the sleep training techniques as I’m no longer extremely exhausted so don’t mind sitting with him while he falls asleep (he’s nearly three and does that while he holds my hand. Lovely!)

Another very happy Andrea Grace customer here. It was absolutely transformative - I think I had been teetering on the edge of depression because of the sleep deprivation, and I couldn't believe how fun and joyful I found motherhood once I was sleeping.

Oh OP, i remember the sleepless exhaustion. Three whole years of it. On top of crippling PND, the lack of sleep sent me suicidal. If I was able to afford it I would have hired a sleep consultant. Hope things work out for you soon.

I'm broken from dc3.
I've just bought an online sleep course in the hope it helps! I suspect my issue is the lack of consistency though as dc3 has to fit around the older 2. Sad

Why was I the only one who thought this thread was about insomnia? Is the clue 'sleep consultant'? Hmm
