Has anyone been to the Trafford Centre on boxing day?
Is it hell on earth?

Would I be really stupid to get up at 7am and go?

Can you think of nothing better to do?

koshkat · 25/12/2019 18:40

Why? Just why?

BlueJava · 25/12/2019 18:40

What do you actually need? Otherwise I think YABU.

Yoohoo16 · 25/12/2019 18:41

Yes

bridgetreilly · 25/12/2019 18:41

Check what shops will be open. Not everything is on Boxing Day. If you want the Next sale, you need to be there at 6am not 7am.

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2019 18:41

What do you really need that you have to go?

koshkat · 25/12/2019 18:42

6am on Boxing Day? Bloody grim.

whataballbag · 25/12/2019 18:43

Trafford is fucking horrendous on Boxing Day!

Ilikewinter · 25/12/2019 18:43

I havent personally but know people who work there...and yes its hell on earth...if you go be prepared for horrendous queues to get in and out of the car park and remember that everyone is hemmed in - unlike going to Manchester where you are at least outside and can escape down a side street to avoid the masses!

SophieGiroux · 25/12/2019 18:44

Yes- if everyone stopped shopping on Boxing Day then at least retail staff might get more than one day off work

boxingdayshopper · 25/12/2019 18:45

We don't need anything! Grin
Teenagers have some money and we'd go to the cinema!
Shops are all open so we'd have a look at the sales! No family around.
It's a stupid idea isn't it?

If the shops didn't open and sales didn't start, people wouldn't go shopping!!

You know it is. Have a lovely rest and a lazy day instead.

Rachelfromfriends1 · 25/12/2019 18:52

I’m more of an online shopper personally!

I think it will be ridiculously busy in an annoying way. Long queues, people literally moving through the shopping centre in single file, people getting in the way etc. It’s up to you whether you think that’s a fun day out!

NeedAnExpert · 25/12/2019 18:54

Yes- if everyone stopped shopping on Boxing Day then at least retail staff might get more than one day off work

What’s so special about retail staff, exactly? Why not hospitality staff? Those who make sure websites are running and card machines are operating? Cinema and football stadium staff?

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/12/2019 18:57

Check what's open, but if you want to go then why not?
People are so sanctimonious about it.

Marriedtoapenguin · 25/12/2019 18:57

If it's busy it's probably going to be hell on earth but if you fancy it, why not.

6am? For wimps according to Matalan. 2am in one of the Birmingham stores. Now that really takes the wotsit.

Mummyshark2019 · 25/12/2019 18:59

I dont want to think about buying anything else for at least a month the lol.

Rachelfromfriends1 · 25/12/2019 19:01

Is there anything specific you/they want to buy?

vjg13 · 25/12/2019 19:12

I like watching how torturous it looks on the news!

Okbutno · 25/12/2019 19:14

I think it's really sad tbh. I have family who do this and I think it's sad they can't enjoy one more day of time together and extend Christmas. It will be really busy to.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 25/12/2019 19:16

Makes me laugh when people say shop online instead, let retail staff have the day off.

Who the heck do people think does all of the work to get the sale items on line? Takes an army of supply, dot com, IT and logistics staff to fulfil your online order!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 25/12/2019 19:20

Trafford Centre is hell on Earth at anytime.

bilbodog · 25/12/2019 19:45

No dont go!

JaceLancs · 25/12/2019 19:57

I’m going shopping tomorrow but not to Trafford centre
It’s more to get elderly DM out of house than anything
We will window shop briefly then have a long lunch - brief shop and then coffee somewhere
