Just that really. No bills.

What would you do?

A divorce.

elliejjtiny · 25/12/2019 16:45

Buy a year's membership to somewhere the dc would like. Buy more premium bonds with the rest.

Uninvited01 · 25/12/2019 16:45

Towards a deposit for a house

Coldilox · 25/12/2019 16:46

We were given that exact amount recently, by very generous PILs. We bought a new sofa, got some work done on the house (no major jobs, just a few smaller things that were piling up) a few new lamps, curtains etc, new sofa bed for the spare room, new washer dryer is the old one packed up, new hoover. The rest has gone into savings - looking to get DS some new bedroom furniture next year.

New roof for my extension

Garlicinyoursoul · 25/12/2019 16:49

Save half for a rainy day and spend the other half on a new TV for DH, something nice for myself, and a little last minute holiday with the DC.
We never spend money on anything decadent for ourselves, so it’d be nice to be able to be a bit silly.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/12/2019 17:01

New cooker.
Redo the kitchen floor.
Holiday for 2020.

Dollywilde · 25/12/2019 17:04

We’re buying the freehold on our flat so that would reduce the spend from our savings by 5k... alternatively it would go into the baby fund - due in August and having just started researching prams/cots etc I’m suddenly very Shock

Gingernaut · 25/12/2019 17:04

Double glazing, guttering and soffits.

Mummyshark2019 · 25/12/2019 17:05

A holiday. Easter break.

BumbleBeee69 · 25/12/2019 17:05

Save it....

megletthesecond · 25/12/2019 17:06

Upgrade my car. Mine's 8 yrs old.

Ardnassa · 25/12/2019 17:08

I would save 4k and invest the rest.

Tobebythesea · 25/12/2019 17:08

Towards a masters tuition fees.

TeacupDrama · 25/12/2019 17:09

getting a decorator in to remove the wood chip paper ( which someone painted deep Olive green in 1970's) in my hall up the stairs and on the landing and on the ceilings, the ceilings are high so it needs interior scaffolding and re do it in a suitable period off white colour instead of the light sucking colour it is

EL8888 · 25/12/2019 17:12

@HavelockVetinari same. More IVF and a little holiday

DrivingMsCrazy · 25/12/2019 17:12

Sort out the ensuite, new shower cabinet etc and a new hall carpet. Then some nice family experiences, tickets to shows and meals out kind of thing.

Eeeeek2 · 25/12/2019 17:12

Holiday

Ellapaella · 25/12/2019 17:13

Holiday and I'd do up my front living room which is a little tired and the only room in the house I haven't put my own mark on yet.

Overthegardenfence · 25/12/2019 17:14

I’ve just been given this, I’m going to rent a cottage in England for a week then I’m going to go to New York for a few days and hopefully take a friend, I’ll pay my credit card bill and if there’s any left over I’ll get a new sofa or save it for a rainy day x

user1497207191 · 25/12/2019 17:16

Buy some stock to sell on ebay. Then use the proceeds to buy more stock to sell, and so on until it starts making enough to make a living then give up the day job.

ConstanceL · 25/12/2019 17:16

New kitchen!

Sassanacs · 25/12/2019 17:19

A much needed holiday for me, DH and the kids

grisen · 25/12/2019 17:21

Take my son and my 3 siblings on holiday. We don’t get to see each other much as my siblings live una different country and I want them to have a good relationship with my son.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 25/12/2019 17:21

I'd definitely donate a portion to a local charity helping homeless families

The rest Id use to buy a decent car. The one we have is falling apart. With four little ones we're always on the go!
