I’m feeling sad as I’ve read So many posts from people saying they’re disappointed, or DH’s haven’t bothered etc and they’re having a shit time.
Have you received everything you asked for ?

DH has been very good this year and more festive than ever knowing we have a little one the size of a poppy seed inside me currently ! I think that’s helped lol
DH is doing all the cooking as I can’t bare the smell but I’m going to try my best .
I’ve been asking for 6 years for cow girl boots (something i have always wanted), but still awaiting those 🤣 but other than that I’m happy and hope you are too!

Every year I get socks. Never underestimate the beauty of a good clean soft pair of good cotton socks. I ask for them every year and bless him he chooses ones with patterns and themes and colours he knows I like :)

thetemptationofchocolate · 25/12/2019 19:03

I love all the presents he got for me. There were two things i'd suggested and a surprise :)

myself2020 · 25/12/2019 19:09

My husband got me a marzipan bar, i got him some cheese biscuits. perfect

BangingOn · 25/12/2019 19:15

DH bought me a couple of things from my list- a Hush skirt and some bits for my hobby, but then surprised me with a beautiful vase and mirror that I admired in a shop last month and he went back for.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/12/2019 19:20

Dh got me a Fortnum and Mason hamper of goodies - he knew it was what I wanted, but he went overboard and got me a bigger one than I was expecting, and more things in it than I expected either. He is a lovely and generous person - and I never feel I deserve it.

Lamentations · 25/12/2019 19:41

He's not brilliant, never has been. I got some ill-fitting Victoria's Secret things, which will be going back although I'll leave it a couple of days before I tell him that.

littledrummergirl · 25/12/2019 19:41

Dh and I don't always do gifts. This year he had bought my gift before I had the chance to tell him not to.
He bought me a gorgeous coat which I love and am looking forward to wearing it when I walk the puppy that joined our household on Sunday. She is beautiful and boisterous and much loved already. I was surprised when the rescue said we could collect her before Christmas but sadly they needed the space and we adopted our last ddog from them.

Today has been a little busier than we were expecting but I am so glad that dh agreed to another ddog having lost ours in May to cancer.

PleaseSirMyGoat · 25/12/2019 20:10

Mine got me a Kindle Paperwhite, which I'm over the moon with!

Shutupanddance1 · 25/12/2019 20:11

We just put a deposit down on a house on Friday so that’s our gift to each other Smile

Fishfingersandwichplease · 25/12/2019 20:13

OMG my husband got me tickets to see Queen and Adam Lambert next year!! I dropped hints but thought never in a million years was he listening!! Chuffed to bits!!

Fishcakey · 25/12/2019 20:13

We have a set budget and give each other a list. No room to go wrong. Actually DH is great at gifts so I am very lucky. The issue is stopping him going over the top. I know many couples who happily buy each other nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️

BadnessInTheFolds · 25/12/2019 20:20

Lego Hogwarts express GrinGrinGrin

And some other small things which were really thoughtful and just the sort of things I love and wouldn't buy for myself.

He seemed really happy with the geeky fan paraphernalia I got him too

Flowers for those who are feeling disappointed today

BarbedBloom · 25/12/2019 20:23

I am very happy, he got me lovely thoughtful gifts. I am still not used to it after years of my exes awful gifts.

HerRoyalNotness · 25/12/2019 20:36

He got DD2 and I matching bracelets from Tiffany. Unexpected as we need to not spend but he’s been squirrelling away his monthly spends to save up. It’s lovely except he said it’s not a HRN and DD2 gift but rather a mum and baby. So if DD grows up and has a DD then they get passed to them. So that’s erm nice.

Best gift was he got off his arse did the breakfast and prepared and cooked all the vegetables while I did the turkey, stuffing and gravy. That was a big help and very unusual

Queenofheartsnomore · 25/12/2019 20:40

Very happy with my gifts! He got me an exercise bike which I asked for and got me a book I'm really looking forward to reading. He also got me my favourite chocolates.

FishCanFly · 25/12/2019 20:51

I only wanted a calendar and a videogame. I pointed exactly which ones, and he got them for me. Bathbombs as stocking fillers as well.

llamakoala · 25/12/2019 21:57

I got a pack of two books purchased at the supermarket last night (while I was with him). I nearly didn’t get anything at all from DP (of 5+ years)- we’d gone to do his Xmas shopping and just as we left (he even said to the effect of “That’s it all done for another year!” I asked if he’d got anything for me and he said no because I hadn’t left him alone (actually I had.. we were in a bookshop for a while and I wandered off looking at books for what felt like a long time!)

I couldn’t help but cry on the way home although I tried to hide it. He then was saying how it made him feel bad and mentioned the pressures/bs of this time of year, etc. I said well he did get other family things. He said he didn’t know what to get me and asked me what I wanted but I felt put on the spot and felt like I didn’t want to have to ask him for something. He was also adamant that he prefers to get practical gifts and if there was something I needed he would get it otherwise he felt it was a waste of money. Do see where he’s coming from and I’m quite a practical gifter too, although not to the length of not getting someone anything at all.

I needed to pick up a couple bits from the Supermarket and he picked the books out then (and tried to hide them to be fair) but I saw the spines, lol. Don’t think he realised.

I’m really not materialistic and quite easily pleased. I’m glad he got me something in the end (and I do love books) although sad the way it came about and that he didn’t put much thought/effort into it and wonder what he would have done had I not asked if he’d got me anything. I always put a lot of thought into gifts and I always buy for him. The first couple of years of relationship I didn’t get anything at all. The books are nice and I will read them so I am happy with them...

More choice at the bookshop than the supermarket though...

shrug

emmetgirl · 25/12/2019 22:07

Never get each other anything. We spend our money on going on fabulous holidays.

Snuffkindle · 25/12/2019 22:10

Usually I say exactly what I want and all is grand. This year I didn't. I said I'd like chocolates, PJs and hand cream. I got all three but none were what I would have picked. I wasn't ungrateful but made note to self to go back to specifics next year.

TheCountessatHotelCortez · 25/12/2019 22:20

Very pleased! Pandora necklace with Elsa & the nokk from frozen 2 charm totally obsessed with the film! Game of thrones colouring book, hotel chocolat chocolate, Joma jewellery necklace and earrings.

runninguphills · 25/12/2019 22:25

I gave him the glorious gift of not having to go searching for one for me. He in return did the same for me.

We have a joint account and are minimalist.

He often goes out and buy me things I feel I need but this can be any time of the year! We hate spending for the sake of spending.

Except when it comes to the children - we tend to go crazy with gifts for them!

DDiva · 25/12/2019 22:27

My husband bought me a massage voucher as always but I cant wait to book in. Also a small baileys gift set and a box of my favourite chocs from dd. I'm happy Smile

francienolan · 25/12/2019 23:09

Mine got me a box full of various lovely bath things, a 5 year janet Austen diary, and some chocolate--absolutely perfect for me! Very happy with all that Smile

francienolan · 25/12/2019 23:09
