First world problems at Christmas

Some issue with the boiler means we don't have hot water in the kitchen or master bathroom.
It's still working in the main bathroom for now but we've been told that it will go off eventually.
Luckily we have cover and are booked in with an engineer on Sunday.
I know it's nowt in the grand scheme of things but argh!

So far I haven't had any first world problems (except maybe that one of our 3 melons had gone off), but I'm enjoying first world solution including some new poaching egg pouches that have VASTLY improved my xmas brunch cooking experience.

DH forgot to get pink champagne to have as our sundowner this evening. Git.

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 25/12/2019 13:18

Bloody hell @IamFriedSpam! 10 days!!! You're a saint. We're having the ILs round today so they'll be here for most of the day and they "popped round" yesterday to drop some stuff off and ended up staying for 5 hours and that was 3 hours too long for me!

My first world problem is trying to get two teens and a pre teen together in a nice photo wearing their lovely t-shirts sent by a beloved aunt.

Happy to wear the clothes but not for the photo Xmas Confused

@hidinginthenightgarden Why can't you eat if there is no hot water?

hushnowthanks · 25/12/2019 14:23

My dryer decided to break down on me yesterday. Cue wet washing everywhere and unsightly pants hanging on the radiator. Very first world and I feel guilty for moaning but the washing build up is seriously driving me mad Angry

isseywith4vampirecats · 25/12/2019 14:25

mine was prepping the starters today and finding out that the lovely posh wild boar pate I bought on sunday went out of date on bloody Monday (didnt think to look at the date my bad) so its gone off luckily I had bought another different pate so we have a starter

@Livebythecoast I wouldn't waste wine! Sadly I can't have anything until later as I'm on family pick up duty Hmm

My first world problem is lack of batteries
We did a Costco run specifically for batteries! May be a blessing in disguise for you though?

Baby DD was poorly and in hospital with a feeding tube until yesterday. I clearly over did it on pumping for her, now she's back home & feeding for herself my boobs are exploding. I'm like a big Christmas cow & I daren't change into a nice outfit because I keep leaking all over everything!!
@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland if you don't have anyone coming over just sit in a bra and nurse whenever!
Alternatively a warm bath and hand express some off! I'd probably just get back in bed with her! Glad she's home x

Mine is that no one has given me a Toblerone. Last year, DH, MIL and DM each gave me a large one and I may have commented that, whilst it was my favourite chocolate, I didn't like it that much. Well, they all took note and no one has got me one. I always have a Toblerone for Christmas! Instructions will be issued next year!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 25/12/2019 15:21

My oven had no power earlier, luckily I'd put something away in the cupboard that has the main power switch and just knocked it off by accident. Christmas dinner ruined to it's a Christmas miracle in seconds!

FruityWidow · 25/12/2019 15:40

My Bailey's hot chocolate has gone cold but I'm catnaptrapped and can't get into the kitchen to reheat it.

Watchagotcha · 25/12/2019 16:00

We live overseas and for the first time in years we have decided to stay home for Christmas. I’m alternating between loving the fact I’m at home: no travelling / flights / sleeping in uncomfortable spare beds / having to run round all the relatives / eating massive meals every couple of days (as well as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day we also have two family birthdays (DH and DS1) btw Christmas and New Year, plus we’re Scottish so Hogmanay and NYD are also celebrated) and missing my family and wishing we were all at my parents place for Christmas. :-( where they can spoil the kids and my sister and I can have a laugh together.

Next year, we’ll get back “home” for Christmas.

ChristmasFluff · 25/12/2019 17:34

OMG, this brought back memories of our hot water tank bursting on Christmas morning - and my Dad and BIL not only finding another one (in the early 1980s, so not 24 hr culture by any means) but fitting it - all before Christmas Dinner!

Not had any first world problems today though.

Gingernaut · 25/12/2019 17:38

I'm wearing bags on my feet for a foot masque.

My feet are very slimy and I have to be careful walking around.

Very 1st World.

InAPrettyCabinet · 26/12/2019 11:48

Hope we all got through our first world problems on Christmas Day.
I'm a little delicate this morning.
I discovered another one yesterday though. Dh had thrown the cranberry sauce away because it was out of date and hadn't got me to pick one up on my way home from work yesterday. He'd also forgotten to do stuffing which I love.
Even more first worldy is that was the one who did all the cooking whilst I unwrapped ds's presents from their twisty string confines!
