AIBU that socialists should just implement their ideas outside of government?

Just that really – there are millions of people who voted Labour; but also millions who didn’t and don’t want anything to do with their policies. Why do socialists desire to impose their views?

Instead, why don’t all the millions who vote Labour get together and create a pooling of resources independent of the state? Each person who lines up with this philosophy could pay a high percentage of their wealth into a central fund and build hospitals, schools and subsidise higher wages without being in government..

Nothing is stopping people pooling their resources and paying for each other, offering enhanced benefits to their members, taking on debts for each other, transferring income as deemed appropriate – but they don’t seem to do it voluntarily, despite indicating they want to live in such a society. If it worked well, it may even attract more people.

Or, do people who believe in socialist ideals only want to do it if they can impose their will on those who don’t wish to be part of such a scheme?

Also I’m not aware of any countries which don’t pay for infrastructure such as roads (albeit many have toll roads too such as in Europe). But this generally is a tiny cost to the public purse. It could be covered by a specific tax on road users although I’m. It aware of anywhere that it is.

My post is not bonkers at all.

Net contributors are paying more than they are using directly, when you don't count indirect benefits (such as the ones I outlined) you end up with your daft scenario.

Not a momentum member (nice ad hom fail).

In order to be a higher earner you need society to work around you and to provide all that facilitates you. Without other workers doing their jobs, infrastructure and many other benefits recieved indirectly it wouldn't be possible and therefore they benefit more from being part of society than others.

You won't name your country with lower taxes, so as usual on MN its probably made up

Lol @malylis. Net contributors are paying for more than they use. You absolutely don’t need other people to be educated or have good healthcare in order to be a higher earner. You might want that (and I do) but you don’t need it to earn e decent wage (unless of course your wage comes directly from state funded education).

“Countries with lower taxes are made up”. Emm no they’re not. No way would I be sharing specific details of my life with you. You’ve shown yourself to be petty and silly.

My savings are with mutuals not banks. This could be one way that the left could adopt.

Net contributors are paying for more than they use directly.

You most certainly do need other people to be educated and have good healthcare in order to earn highly, unless you are implying that high earners don't need any kind of staff or other organisations with staff in order to facilitate their earning.
Only a analysing direct benefits is incorrect.

Oh and misquoting me shows the paucity of your points.

My Asian neighbour said to me today that she is scared she will have to live in a similarly poor area but outside London and mostly white and they will be racially abused. I started to think about it and I live in an area which has a very large Asian community most of who are poor. They will soon not afford to live round here and have to move to those places where they have been led to believe that immigration is the reason they are poor. So on top of those people being subjected to racism by people who see them as a threat, the poor white people who live in these areas and voted against immigration (or so they thought) will have more immigrants than ever. I know some of these white people, I am related to some of them, and when I say they are PROPERLY TERRIFIED of immigrants, especially Muslims and most lately Russians! Problem is they assume everyone who isn't white is an immigrant. My aunt would not sleep and probably worry herself into a mental health crisis if a load of people who live near me in Tower Hamlets started showing up in her town.

Why do conservatives desire to impose their views?
