Just curious to people's thoughts on the meaning.

Me and mine use it as a cheeky and affectionate term.of endearment.

Strange question though! What's up?

Cherry321 · 24/12/2019 17:22

I’ve always interpreted it a bit like ‘sweet heart’

Think it’s positive?

cardibach · 24/12/2019 17:22

I don’t really think of it ‘meaning’ anything. Just used in a slightly condescending manner.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 24/12/2019 17:22

They're cute? Smiley? Chubby cheeked?

bridgetreilly · 24/12/2019 17:23

Nothing? It's just a term of endearment. I guess it could be used in a flirty way, but not necessarily. You'd know from the context.

It’s a term of endearment
It doesn’t really mean anything

SofiaAmes · 24/12/2019 17:24

Without context it's just a term of endearment, like "sweet heart."

Sparklesocks · 24/12/2019 17:24

It’s just a cutesy pet name in my experience? I don’t really hear people in the UK use it much (at least not where I live) so I associate it as more of an American term

fallfallfall · 24/12/2019 17:24

Term of endearment.

I've only ever heard it in a demeaning or patronising way.

Fruityb · 24/12/2019 17:25

It’s a term of endearment honey bunch angel pie.

Queenoftheashes · 24/12/2019 17:25

Dirty. “All right treacle?” Type of thing.

ISmellBabies · 24/12/2019 17:26

It's affectionate in a condescending way. Horribly inappropriate if you don't know someone but some men use it to women they don't know, that's really gross, if this is you, please stop!

Teenagemaw · 24/12/2019 17:26

Men say it to be condescending to younger women in my experience Crown Sad

Butterymuffin · 24/12/2019 17:28

Only actually used to be patronising in my experience

DdraigGoch · 24/12/2019 17:29

Wiktionary says that it means "attractive buttocks".

ToPlanZ · 24/12/2019 19:17

I thought it meant nice bum

MitziK · 24/12/2019 19:53

They've watched too many US shows where it's used as a demeaning insult to women.

ChristmasCroissant · 24/12/2019 19:54

Impossible to say as it would depend on the context.

There's a lot of these threads at the moment Hmm

NoHummus · 24/12/2019 19:54

I thought it meant "nice arse' too.

Jollitwiglet · 24/12/2019 19:55

I personally think it's patronising and have never come across it to be meant in a genuinely nice way

amusedbush · 24/12/2019 19:56

It could either be used as a term of endearment or (more often than not) to be condescending.

AfterSchoolWorry · 24/12/2019 19:57

😂

Only way I've ever heard it used is to mean 'nice arse'.
