Just curious to people's thoughts on the meaning.

It could be a term of endearment, it could be sarcastic. Without the context it's impossible to know.

firesong · 24/12/2019 19:59

Think it's a "nice bum" kinda comment...

crosser62 · 24/12/2019 20:03

Same as sugar tits, it’s a funny way of saying hello gorgeous!

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/12/2019 20:05

Same as sugar tits, it’s a funny way of saying hello gorgeous!

And equally inappropriate from most people!

Igotthemheavyboobs · 24/12/2019 20:08

It's a term I only use if pretending to be a 1950s New York Gangster, which is surprisingly often Grin

BikeRunSki · 24/12/2019 20:13

It’s a term of endearment, but cheeky. I associate it with Nessa from Gavin and Stacey.

MeetmeinParis · 24/12/2019 20:16

My DH says it to me sometimes in a (terrible) American accent, it's just a slight cheesy term of endearment to me. I don't consider it to have anything to do with ones arse!

BloodyDrasticInnit · 24/12/2019 20:31

Funny how 98% of people say I'm being unreasonable when they have no idea why I asked Hmm

I bought a card for DDs birthday, just grabbed it as the pic was cute and shop was heaving.

It says To a gorgeous daughter...

Then inside. Happy birthday sweetcheeks

Just thought it was weird.

I always thought it meant you have a nice arse.

BloodyDrasticInnit · 24/12/2019 20:32

TBH. I didn't even register the 'gorgeous daughter' I wouldn't have bought it based on that but like I said, I was having a meltdown and just grabbed the first daughter card I saw that looked nice.

That's why I voted you were unreasonable. 🤷

coconuttelegraph · 24/12/2019 20:33

It doesn't mean anything, I know it's used on a tv programme but I can't place which one. The only way to know what someone means by it is to ask him, and I say him as I can't imagine a woman ever saying it

crosser62 · 24/12/2019 20:33

Ooh no, not to a daughter!!
To a partner yes but daughter nooooo!

BloodyDrasticInnit · 24/12/2019 20:34

Because I asked a question I'm unreasonable?

I wanted a non biased opinion of the term. So deliberately with held context.

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 24/12/2019 20:35

Cute face, I would assume.

Slightlyannoyed · 24/12/2019 20:36

My American friend uses it as an affectionate term. Like sweetie, honey pie, hey sugar.
Nothing untoward.

steff13 · 24/12/2019 20:37

But without the context it's not possible to know what it means. There is no unbiased opinion of the term; context gives it meaning.

Disfordarkchocolate · 24/12/2019 20:43

My son is a 'sweetcheecked angle faced of loveliness' and always has been. Hasn't changed now he's 15 and it only refers to his face.

TSSDNCOP · 24/12/2019 20:45

It’s a term of endearment. Nothing to do with tits or arses.

FestiveFavourites · 24/12/2019 20:49

Who has called you sweetcheeks?

FestiveFavourites · 24/12/2019 20:50

Oops, cross posted. It's a term of endearment.

Cannyhandleit · 24/12/2019 21:00

I always thought it meant 'hello beautiful' never associated it with a nice arse at all 😂🤦‍♀️

ISmellBabies · 24/12/2019 23:08

I think 98% are saying YABU because this is AIBU and your question is not an AIBU, therefore YABU to ask it here.
I've never thought about it as referring to bumcheeks at all, but I agree it seems a little bit weird.

Mamabear144 · 24/12/2019 23:22

I'd say "cheer up sweetcheeks" to a friend if their in a mood

paintedfences · 24/12/2019 23:27

Reading 'Who has called you sweetcheeks' as a one line response upthread has made me giggle. I think it might be better in caps...

WHO HAS CALLED YOU SWEETCHEEKS
WHO
WHO HAS DONE THIS TERRIBLE THING

(I've always imagined it as being a face thing, like you have a cute little face/actual sweet cheeks?)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/12/2019 23:29

It sounds like something Humphrey Bogart would say
