AIBU?

To ask about loo roll...

Sonny sister and I have spent much time with elderly relative recently at her house as she's not well.

When I put loo roll on holder I have the 'loose' side facing me, so I can easily find the end and pull it down. Have discovered, though, that sister does it other way round, so loose bit abuts the wall.

Neither of us have discussed this but in a supremely passive-aggressive way we each keep changing it round.

AIBU to feel my sister is nuts because obviously it's easier if the loose bit faces you as you sit on loo, so it's not necessary to scrabble against wall to find the end? Hmm

Almost all of MN will agree with you on this, including me.

I've told my sister she's a deviant and we both laughed. (Though my laughter was a little hollow, as I know she actually is.)

She said she hadn't noticed but that's bollocks because it was this way/that way/this way/that way all within the same roll Wink

Your way is 100% correct

lostfrequencies · 21/12/2019 17:09

YANBU.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 21/12/2019 17:18

YANBU

Teenage DS did this recently (ie. put it the wrong way round like your sister did) so I told him he clearly wasn't mine and must have been swapped at birth!

(Disclaimer before someone shoots me down ...DS knows I was joking, didn't take offence, does not need therapy as a result of my comment as he knows it's a joke and found it funny)

starfishmummy · 21/12/2019 17:23

Yabu. Your sister is correct

I'm sorry. Your sister has been taken by aliens and replaced with an imposter. She'll be opening the door when somebody unexpected knocks next, mark my words.

LakieLady · 21/12/2019 17:34

Your sister is WRONG, OP. Loose end at the front is the right way.

Thelnebriati · 21/12/2019 17:35

Loose end at the front is the right way unless you are a crazy cat lady, as your sister obviously is.

SquigglePigs · 21/12/2019 17:36

You are right! Always always always!!!

MamaWeasel · 21/12/2019 17:37

I agree with your sister Blush

bloodywhitecat · 21/12/2019 17:38

I am alone in not giving a fig, just replace the empty roll I don't care which way round you do it but if you finish it, replace it don't leave it for the next person to do.

22Giraffes · 21/12/2019 17:40

You are 100% correct op. DD 11 feels the same as me and will swap it back if someone puts it the wrong way round looking at you dp

minniemoll · 21/12/2019 17:40

The loo roll hangs down the front. If that's not the law it should be.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 21/12/2019 17:42

My oh puts in the wrong way. I turn it

Somanysocks · 21/12/2019 17:45

How odd some people are, of course it hangs over the front Smile

DontCallMeShitley · 21/12/2019 17:50

Ours hangs over the front.

If you have a steamy bathroom and it is the other way round it sticks to the tiles on the wall.

Also it is easier to reach out and grab it.

notthe1Parrot · 21/12/2019 17:56

In the Fifties (am very old), women’s magazines always recommended the loose side should be put at the back - more economical as it was more difficult to be wasteful.

HopeItComesWithBatteries · 21/12/2019 18:05

You are absolutely right OP - in times of plenty.

In hard times you place it the other way round - people automatically use less.

Hingeandbracket · 21/12/2019 18:06

Pah! wanted to vote. OP is correct.

Lemonlimesoda · 21/12/2019 18:11

It should be law. It’s awful at work when it’s put the wrong way and touches the dirty public toilet wall which in turn has lots of fingers that has touched it. Grim Xmas Envy not envy

CarolinaPink · 21/12/2019 18:13

I think starfishmummy must be my sister 😳
