Stolen car parts ...fuming!!!

A week ago I left work to find my wing mirrors were stolen and cost me £50 to replace. Today the bastards have taken the wing mirrors again and the windscreen wipers.

I have a dented 2003 polo so it's not like I can afford this in the run up to Christmas.

Why do people do this? Angry

BentNeckLady · 20/12/2019 20:23

I had the aerial stolen off my old polo and then the fog lights stolen off an Audi while it was parked in street near my office and then they stole the actual car off the drive.

Cunts aren’t they!

jillandhersprite · 20/12/2019 20:29

because they are arseholes...
the latest one in our area is catalytic converters - some of them can be worth several hundred pounds...
and then they come back after you get it sorted...
like I said before - arseholes...

teentree · 20/12/2019 20:30

Where is your car parked when you are at work? Is there any obvious damage to any of the other cars? Do you think you could be targeted?

Thelnebriati · 20/12/2019 20:32

Me and my friend felt a right pair of idiots when we couldn't get her car to start, called out the repair bloke and he pointed at the big empty space where the battery should have been.

Pineapple1 · 20/12/2019 20:41

We had a new focus Rs several years ago.

One morning we woke up, to find the bonnet, bumper headlights, radiator and engine missing.

That wrote the car off... Still have no idea how they didn't wake us up

JennyBlueWren · 20/12/2019 20:41

I had my bike's front wheel stollen. Phoned my DB for advice and he said someone had probably stollen it as theirs had been stollen! (Now have a special wheel lock!)

Unusualusernames · 20/12/2019 20:42

@BentNeckLady that really made me laugh after a shitty day so thanks Smile

OP posts:
MrsCasares · 20/12/2019 20:44

I had the back wheel stolen off my car. The thieving bastards kindly left it up on bricks though. And left all the screws inside the hubcap which they kindly left under my car.

gamerchick · 20/12/2019 20:45

It's petrol flaps here on our type of car. Apparently they have a resale value on eBay. Weve had to cable tie the fucker on Hmm

Unusualusernames · 20/12/2019 20:45

@teentree there's always smashed glass all over the place and yesterday I noticed a car had its whole wheel missing! It's really dark and eery round there. The other day I'm sure a man followed me. I'm going to have to pay to park in the multi story but it's £75 a month and I'm trying to save

OP posts:
gamerchick · 20/12/2019 20:46

But it's weighing up the cost of parking Vs playing to replace car parts though isn't it?

Unusualusernames · 20/12/2019 20:56

Yeah that's what I figured. I can't be paying £100 a week to fix the parts. It's depressing that people would stoop so low. I really can't understand it.

DontCallMeShitley · 20/12/2019 20:58

Paying for a secure car park won't help a lot. The attendants will collect what is left from the stairwell after the thieves run off and dump it and keep it safe for you. It should be on CCTV but that won't help either because the Police won't do anything about it, they will just close the case.

Unusualusernames · 20/12/2019 21:14

I'm hoping the car park will be secure because it's next to the police station but the area is such a hell hole I don't know. I'm glad I don't have to live there.

Yes,my dh's catalytic converter, was stolen, expensive to repair, absolutely disgusting.

Sorry OP about your wing mirrors

Fcukthisshit · 20/12/2019 22:24

My cat converter got stolen from a supermarket car park in broad daylight. Cost me my insurance excess and a days pay when I couldn’t get to work.

Utter c**ts. Sorry about your mirrors.

Knickersinonehand · 20/12/2019 22:42

Do a lot of people from your work park in the residential streets? I ask because my DS used to park near his work and nearly every week it was either keyed or broken mirrors, he thought it was the locals.

ChocChipWookie · 20/12/2019 23:05

We had wing mirror covers stolen twice from an Astra on our driveway . The first were colour coded and £300 a pair. The second just plain but still £100 a set. They had done a dozen or more in our area.

Unfortunately for the light fingered twat between the first and second set we put in cctv so he was gurning away about six inches from a camera he never noticed. Police immediately recognised him and he was charged based on our footage. Went to court we were awarded £400 costs. The following month I had a cheque for £3.65. That was six years ago now and I'm still waiting for the rest. I think I'll be waiting a while.

Sh05 · 20/12/2019 23:49

Yeah my brothers catalytic converter was stolen. The insurance company wrote the car off as it's too expensive to replace.
CCTV recordings were handed over to police of the culprits and their car but they said it would probably have been sold on already so couldn't do anything about it.

woodhill · 21/12/2019 09:21

I don't think dh's was covered under the insurance. Luckily he could afford the £400 but horrible experience 😡

SimonJT · 21/12/2019 09:24

I had my car stolen a few weeks ago, it’s because some people are scumbags with zero morals.

Kpo58 · 21/12/2019 09:39

I think that they do it because there is no deterrent. Why not do it if no-one is going to investigate the crime? I wish people didn't think this way, but they do.

Sh05 · 21/12/2019 10:46

Talking about crimes against cars, My younger sister was at an event last night and came out to find the car had been deeply scratched all the way round and all tires slashed!
She sent the kids home with friends and had to wait two hours for recovery to take it to a garage. She's just been in touch with her insurance who said they will arrange for the whole car to be resprayed so this probably means her payments will go up in the future
Pp is right there's not enough deterrent
