To return my winning hamper?

ADVICE NEEDED BEFORE COLLECTION TOMORROW PLEASE

So
We won the hamper from the preschool nativity
It’s huge
And the 2nd hamper I’ve won in a week 🙈
The first one (from works Xmas do) we are giving to grandparents for Xmas
This other one is ginormous, there is so much stuff, we do not have a big enough house for all this stuff 🙈, I don’t want to seem ungrateful but we just don’t need it and want to do something better with it than take it home.

Here are some options that I can see

  1. Ask them to give it to the staff to take home if they are short of any gifts for staff
  2. Ask them to hold another raffle in the new year - not sure how easy this would be - surely a sign on the door would suffice?
  3. Take it to the food bank - removing booze and donating that to the village hall raffle tomorrow night for the brass band carol concert we are going to.
  4. Take it to the food bank but ask preschool to take the booze for staff.

One massive thing to remember here though is that the staff all donated this stuff for the hamper so I don’t want to appear ungrateful by offering it back to them 🙈

I just don’t want to come across as ungrateful or rude

Please help

I’m open to other suggestions too 😊

Food bank and booze to the raffle , OP

Give the staff the booze and take it down. To the rest to your local food bank

I'd go for donate it to the foodbank including the booze, as Christmas drinks are a pleasant part of the season. It is really generous of you to have thought of donating.

It's no good donating alcohol to a food bank - we are not allowed to give it out.

Food bank for sure. I work with deprived families whilst some can get enough together for Christmas, others have nothing and no one nearby to help out. Every food bank in our city, including the one I volunteer at, really wants to include some special items. I am suprised at previous posters saying this is not the case.
It may be more pertinent at christmas but also welcome over the whole year. These families are dehuminised enough. Whilst all are thankful, some nice (ish) coffee, twa bags and shower gel etc will be used. Food banks around here actively ask for some treats at Christmas and during the year prompt people to think outside the 'value beans/noodles /soups/pasta' thinking. If you had next to no money think what would tip you over. So tooth paste/brushes, toiletries and sanitary products. Uht milk and cereal is always well recieved. As is tea, coffee and washing up liquid/powder. All essentials but not always within the food budget

I’m sorry you are being given such a hard time, you are doing a kind thing!
It seems that some people here are only happy when they are being unkind

Food Bank (minus the alcohol), although I appreciate that many FBs are overwhelmed with Christmas treats at this time of year, I volunteer at our local FB & we are very grateful for people’s generosity but over 100 selection boxes when you only have two children (thankfully) regularly needing the FB is a little excessive ... Hmm.
I post this on every FB thread at this time of year ... please save your support until Feb/March when the FB supplies dry up, we cannot store all our donations at the moment, we are having to drive them over to less well supported FBs and trying to find additional storage space.

Ragwort · 22/12/2019 21:10

Lizzie it is really inappropriate to suggest donating alcohol to Food Banks, I doubt any FB would give out alcohol. The most bizarre offer of a donation we once had was a ‘brace of pheasants’ Grin.

Option 3 from me too. Well done on your double win
