AIBU to travel on my own without the kids?

I have 3 dcs between the ages of 3 and 7. Got married at 21, had DS at 22, DD at 23 and finally DS at 26. I’m turning 30 in January, split up with exDH last year as you can see I spent all my 20s raising my kids. I’ve never done all the ‘travelling and exploring’ most people do in their 20s. In the next year or two I really want to just fuck off for 2 weeks to Italy/Spain somewhere warm.. on my own and just relax/explore. Ex and I live 10 mins from each other, and close to the kids school. Youngest DS starts school in September. He’s very hands on with the kids, and I know he can look after them.

Just worry the people I meet abroad will be a bit Hmm when they found out I’m there on my own without the kids lol, just looking to see if anyone’s done this before?

I haven't done it, but I definitely think you should 👍

I got divorced from my first husband just before my 30th, I spent my 30th in New York by myself and had a fucking awesome time! I'm now married again, with a two year old dd and am so glad I had that time to just be myself, without having to consider anyone else for a few days.

I vote go for it. They can have some time with dad and you can do some travelling.

Sounds good! YANBU. The kids will be well looked after, you get a break from them.

No one would bat an eyelid if the father did this. The children will be with their parent I don't see the problem.
I didn't settle down til my late 30s and I have travelled the world , there's nothing like it, it's amazing.

@Dontforgetyourbrolly

That is so true! Go for it.

Two weeks without your children while they are looked after by their dad. Non issue. (although I couldn't have left mine for two weeks too young.)

Khione · 18/12/2019 17:50

Why not - and no one abroad needs to know about the kids unless you choose to tell them.

I did it OP!! I went to Australia for 15days on my own to see a cousin and left my 2yr old and 4yr old with my DH!!! It was much needed! And I enjoyed every minute of it!! Who cares what anyone thinks!!
