I've seen young people with them. Do it, why not!

BillHadersNewWife · 18/12/2019 20:14

Another person in a bit of a hippy town...most of the women here use them. I was SO happy when we moved here and I saw that. I don't drive either! I have one that's about to die so I'm looking for a good one.

Gwenhwyfar · 18/12/2019 20:16

I've thought about it as well, but I'd still have to have bags inside to be able to take the bags upstairs separately. I get around the problem by not buying too many things in one go.

How do people cope with the weight of gym bags? Would I look like an idiot taking a trolley case to the gym?

Mummytea24 · 18/12/2019 20:21

My yummy mummy friend has one so not just for grannies. Go get one!

popcornpaws · 18/12/2019 20:27

I have one, i call it my granny trolley but after spending a day shopping and not being in agony (arthritis) its a godsend!!
I really dont care what anyone thinks, i’m the one on the bus cool calm and collected, not wrestling with bags and trying to keep them upright on the journey home!
It’s no different to taking a wheeled suitcase on holiday!

Spanish pensioner here. Everyone has them. Young, old, students , pensioners. You can have 2 wheels, 4 wheels, cold packs and good colours. A lot more local shopping and apartments without lifts dictate using them.

Can someone explain in simple terms why it's so awful for a woman in her 20s or 30s to have a household object mostly associated in the UK with older women? What taint afflicts these young women? Is it to do with witches?

whatnow40 · 18/12/2019 22:12

This one looks great and really versatile

Of course you are not being unreasonable. My daughter has one. She is 24.

No use to me sadly, too many stairs on my route to the shops.

Nonameslob · 19/12/2019 05:38

I had a red patent one for years. Loads of people asked where I got it from, young people mostly (got it from one of those shops that sells everything and anything where you discover things you never knew you needed!) Have arthritis of the spine, was in my 30's when I first got a trolley. I was a bit self conscious at first but the relief of not being in agony after a shopping trip made me not care anymore. Unfortunately the puppy chewed the bottom so looking for a new one now. I wouldn't recommend the foldaway ones personally as they seem to flop but maybe some of the mere expensive ones don't.

Christmasgravy · 19/12/2019 06:07

I simply meant at 34 I would look out of sorts against the ladies that can't carry shopping due to age and also use them for stability.

Seriously, nobody cares what you use as a shopping bag. Who would you look 'out of sorts' to? Are you aware of anyone actually critiquing this kind of thing daily?

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 19/12/2019 06:31

Gutted that IKEA no longer sell colourful ones like @GidgetGirl's. I was all ready to treat myself!

slipperywhensparticus · 19/12/2019 06:33

I have a box on wheels from Lakeland

PosieParkerIsAHero · 19/12/2019 06:51

Gasp I am a witch so perhaps it is!

I've got a leopard print one! £25 with rubber wheels from eBay. I love my bogey!

MurrayTheMonk · 19/12/2019 07:07

I had one when I lived a walkable distance from a supermarket. I loved it. It was brilliant for saving my arms carrying heavy bags.
I also used to stick my stuff in it for festivals and laugh at other people lugging their kit in big bags and rucks sacks (and it preformed surprisingly well in mud).
The DD's used to take the piss out of it but I didn't care. Practical solution to a problem innit?

LellyMcKelly · 19/12/2019 07:33

I’m a yummy mummy and I’ve got one. It’s black and I got it in Ikea a few years ago. What’s not to like? It’s environmentally friendly, way better for your back than carrying bags, comfortable, glamorous, sexy (may you not the last two!). Bear in mind that they’re not as big as you think they are - you can probably get 2-3 bags worth of shopping in so great for top ups and a quick shop, but not so much for a big weekly one if you have a family to feed.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/12/2019 09:52

When I go to Sainsbury's with it, I get one of the big black baskets on wheels. When that's mostly full I know I've reached capacity for the trolley. You're right, it's nothing like big enough to take enough food for a family for a week (not my family, anyway), but for a top up shop between deliveries it works well.
