Ectopic pregnancy? Or should I have got a second opinion at a different hospital

I really need some advice
After 2 miscarriages I found out I was pregnant again and was understandably worried. I went to my early pregnancy unit and had a blood test.
The HCG level came back at 82, 2 days later it rose to 196. 3 days after it was only 210. I had a transvaginal scan to rule out ectopic pregnancy. I was told there was no pregnancy in the womb and there was something in my right fallopian tube. The sonographer wasn't sure whether it was a cyst or a pregnancy. I had bloods taken 3 days after and they had rose from 210 to 348. I understand they wasn't doubling at the 'normal' rate.
Without having a second scan (even though I asked for a 2nd opinion) I was given half an hour to choose between surgery or the methotrexate injection.
I chose the injection, I am now on day 3 of the treatment and my HCG levels have increased from 348 to 593.
Is this a normal increase? as I was told they can sometimes increase a 'little' on day 3. I am worried I've practically aborted my baby as the hospital couldn't tell me for certain whether the baby was in the tube and they also mentioned that I normal pregnancy would be virtually invisible with HCG levels under 1000.
Thanks in advance.

I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. If there was no sign of anything in your womb it would be likely the pregnancy has happened somewhere else.
You’ve done the right thing. Try not to torture yourself Xmas Blush

Load of rubbish they have told you, my HCG was 170 and my pregnancy was visible on an internal scan at exactly 4wks and 3 days. No heart beat obviously but the pregnancy was right where it was supposed to be in my uterus. A tiny black ball of space on the scan.

If your HCG wasn't doubling it isn't viable though, sorry OP 💐 and if they suspect it's in your tube then better to be safe than lose your tube or worse :(

Your hcg rises were very suboptimal. This isn't a pregnancy that was ever going to progress. Given the scan result and hcgs I think methotrexate was a sensible choice.
The fact that the bhcg is still rising at this point is normal. Its expected to start decreasing by day 7. Its really hard and complex going through this and having to make these decisions. So sorry your going through this.

Please please keep an eye out for any symptoms that the ectopic is getting worse. My levels absolutely shot up and I got a horrid pain which I instantly new was bad news. Had to have emergency surgery as my tube had burst. Don’t mean to scare you but I’ve found from the few people I know who’ve had an ectopic that hospitals don’t really give you a whole ton of information.
Other than that, what your describing is exactly how my ectopic was diagnosed so please don’t beat yourself up about it. Just look after yourself, methotrexate can make you feel so bleh, as can this whole situation of course Flowers

It's normal all for hcg to rise for up to 4 days following the shot then it should decrease

By the way there is absolutely no way a pregnancy would be seen with a hcg of 170 as per previous poster so don't worry about making the decision you have
