To ask for the meaning of "plopcarpet"

Anyone? Googling did not help. Apparently the bloke from Gavin and Stacey levelled this insult via Twitter at Laura Kuenssberg.

Surely it is just a made up insult.

So many other insults have racist, sexist, homophobic, classiest etc connotations that it makes sense to make up your own or be hauled over the coals in the media for your choice of phrase.

To me it sounds like a dog shit on a carpet. I like it as insults go

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 15/12/2019 14:40

What happened when my dog had diarrhoea. Sad

It’s just a made up insult?

fascicle · 15/12/2019 14:54

No idea, but I found it amusing, probably because my opinion of her was already coloured by a couple of her recent errors of judgement/sloppiness - accepting without checking the fake labour hospital assault story and her inappropriate (unlawful?) comments on postal votes.

OneFootintheRave · 15/12/2019 15:51

It has me thinking "Ploppy" from Blackadder. Probably made up then. Fair enough.

A plop carpet? Hmm. A shitty rug? Seems an odd thing to call someone.

recrudescence · 15/12/2019 15:53

I really like Laura Kuenssberg.

Breathlessness · 15/12/2019 15:59

Corbynistas were very pissed off with her (again) because she suggested they weren’t heading for a glorious victory. Obviously this was due to her appalling bias.

Breathlessness · 15/12/2019 16:00

There was a thread on here a few days ago wanting her blood for doing her job.

I really like Laura Kuenssberg.

I can't stand her ever since seeing her live on a panel - in real life, she is so exaggerated but I guess that makes for more dynamic television. She just wasn't able to tone it down though when the cameras were off

Was that anything to do with her postal vote comments?

TheCanterburyWhales · 15/12/2019 17:19

I don't dislike her because I'm a Corbynista.
I just have this irrational hatred of people who tell lies and who have personal connections which rather suggest a conflict of interest when impartiality should be the fundamental aspect of your job description. After all, we're still just about on the not Newspeak side of the abyss.
Plopcarpet sounds juvenile and 8 year old boy speak though.
Unprofessional liar might have got him into trouble though.

Breathlessness · 15/12/2019 17:23

‘who have personal connections which rather suggest a conflict of interest’

Do tell

Now that has to be the best definition Grin
