To think that you can love your job and still moan about it?

Or even hate it at times?!

I do love what I do. I dont love the hours sometimes (pub manager so .... ) and I hate that I havent had a christmas off in years but the main part of the job, social interaction, the people I work with, the fun, I do love all that. I am knackered when I get home but barring the odd cunt of a day, I am still happy with what I do.

My friend said that if I truly loved it then I would never moan about it, but I think thats unrealistic. Its like saying that if you love your partner you will never fall out with them or moan about them! Surely you love them despite the things that piss you off? Same with my job, or at least thats how I see it.

Yep, I love my job but there are times where I just hate doing certain bits or sometimes the environment I'm in but if it but I wouldn't change it for anything.

My sister is a publican so I get the love/hate relationship it can bring about.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 15/12/2019 00:15

Of course you can. Just like you can love your partner, children, parents etc and still moan about them.

DramaAlpaca · 15/12/2019 00:17

I adore my job, but I still come home & have a good vent about it some days.

RJnomore1 · 15/12/2019 00:18

Oh god yeah! I completely love my job but it still does my head in sometimes.

I love my job and my colleagues are lovely. I still got so stressed out the other day that I went and had a bit of a cry in the loos. Nobody can love every single thing about work and no job is perfect. YADNBU.

JimmyGrimble · 15/12/2019 00:22

You can unless you are a teacher.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 15/12/2019 00:23

Yanbu

I work for the NHS. Mostly in a&e and while I love my job and believe I have the best colleagues in the world. Some days I come home and really moan or cry. Then I have a really lovely patient and it is all forgotten about... until the next time ha.

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/12/2019 00:24

Thanks guys.

The discussion started because Thursday was a horrible horrible day. A couple of minor mistakes actually created a really stressful situation. It was also one of those "bad mood" days, where no one was feeling it and we were all a bit snappy and pissed off. I got a migraine, which only happens when I am super stressed, and thankfully I had my dream team on so they pulled my ass through.

I took yesterday off sick as I was so bad with it and my friend said that no job you claim to love would do that.

I disagreed and pointed out that she loves her husband but still moans about him but she said that was different. Hmm

@RJnomore1 how the hell are you old girl?!

Surprising that an adult can’t imagine this c minor amount of complexity

RJnomore1 · 15/12/2019 00:28

I never even noticed it was you! Started reading your last post and was going to ask whether you were Jeremy Corbyn or jo Swinson 😂

I’m great. Life is god except this bloody awful flu I can’t quite shift. How the blazes are you? And all yours!

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/12/2019 00:38

We're all good except I cant wait for Christmas to be over, hardly going to see them :(

On the upside, HMRC royally fucked up my tax and the £900 they owe me went in on friday so thats paid for the presents and next months mortgage :o

Sparklesocks · 15/12/2019 00:51

Definitely - in a similar fashion I love my partner but he annoys me too Grin

toodlethenoodle · 15/12/2019 00:53

Definitely!

PyongyangKipperbang · 15/12/2019 00:54

@RJnomore1 that would be great :)

Thanks again all! You know when you have that moment with someone and you begin to think that you must be the thick one as they are just not getting it?! :o

I’ve never loved a job, maybe mildly enjoyed one once.

QuietCrotchgoblins · 15/12/2019 09:41

Totally normal. I love mine but there are some days I come home crying ( work with poorly children, it can be very sad). Like you said some days everyone is in a bad mood. It's very black and white thinking to assume you can't have some aspects you don't like. If it tips into more bad days than good I think it becomes more of an issue.

recklessruby · 15/12/2019 16:28

I mostly love my job (teacher) but right now I m counting down the days to the end of this long hard term. 4 and a half to go. Kids are the same.
Everyone is tired and loads of people are ill.
Revision. Exams. School plays and it s miserable dark weather.
Every day last week was dreich

Likethebattle · 15/12/2019 17:01

I was talking to friend online who is a teacher and saying how he was looking forward to the Christmas break. I said ‘oh lucky you, this is our busiest time so I only get the standard bank holidays!’ One of his colleagues jumped on me saying ‘well if you don’t like your job then leave!’ I responses to say it like my job but nowhere offered the same holidays as a teacher and I just would like a few more days. Yes and it is so easy just to leave a good secure role!’
