about a filters on Facebook photos that you’ve filtered yourself so much you don’t have a nose?

Women my age (I.e) over 40 who cannot put a picture of themselves on Facebook without a filter or one of those daft huge eyes/butterflies things going on.

Sandra I saw you in Asda Wednesday night I know what you like, 6 photos of you so filtered you’ve filtered out your nose is a bit much!

Then all the looking gorgeous, stunning babe comments, I want to write, who are you?

My almost 50 year old SIL has started doing it now and she filtered so much she looked like an alien with an odd shaped head.

What’s wrong with a lovely smiley natural photo?

Fuck knows (nose???!)) I hate filters. Especially on babies and pre pubescent children. The big eyes, eyelashes, animal noses etc. WT actual? And as for the filtering yourself so you look like your make up was made by polyfilla but not the other people on the picture - really? When you're not recognisable in real life from your pretend photos, you've filtered too far

PentreBachCymraeg · 14/12/2019 22:55

The ones where the eyes have been enlarged Grin

lifeonaloop · 14/12/2019 22:56

My sister filters her photos so much that she looks like Orvil the duck

megletthesecond · 14/12/2019 22:58

Everyone looks weird with a filter.
Plastic mannequin skin never looks normal.

YouRemindMeOfTheBabelfish · 14/12/2019 22:58

Some are hilarious, but they're boring so fast once you've seen a million people post with the same filters.

recklessruby · 14/12/2019 23:00

The ones with silly dog ears or noses. Or ultra filtered to hell.
My friend s neighbour s in her 40s and looks like bambi crossed with a childish alien in her profile pic.
You wouldn't know her irl.

BeanTownNancy · 14/12/2019 23:01

So confusing when I buy something off of Facebook Marketplace and I'm not sure if I've got the right house because this woman looks 20 years older than the picture I saw, and she doesn't have googly eyes or bunny ears and nose.

magicstar1 · 14/12/2019 23:05

I have a friend who does this all the time. I call her Voldemort because her nose is missing...she then tells me she doesn’t use filters Hmm

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 14/12/2019 23:19

YANBU this shit is getting fucking ridiculous when over used. And when people comment "you look stunning hun" etc...THAT'S NOT THEIR REAL FACE!!

I legit saw a missing person post on social media...the picture had a stupid Snapchat filter on. facepalm Quite how that is going to help anyone recognise or spot them I'm sure I don't know.

Fantababy · 14/12/2019 23:48

It makes me irrationally angry. It's not hurting me, or anyone else, so I've no idea why it bugs me, but it does. The bloody flower crowns / bambi ears and noses, etc. On grown women! WTF?

thenightsky · 15/12/2019 00:11

A relative of mine posted a photo of her prem tiny baby in an incubator in hospital but used a filter that gave her absolutely huge eyes. Like the whole top half of her face was eyes. My first thought was that there was something seriously wrong with the poor baby Sad

LolaDabestest · 15/12/2019 00:12

Because they can kid themselves that that's what they do actually look like...it's false advertising tbf.

delineateddelinquent · 15/12/2019 00:14

I saw someone I know vaguely the other day in Next and by chance I’d stumbled across her Instagram page a couple of weeks before. Christ almighty it was like two different people.

Not only are her filters out of control, she even knows how to pose so that she looks like a size 8 when in reality she’s more 14 (I could probably take some tips there Grin)

StormBaby · 15/12/2019 00:19

I hate filters. Just embrace what you look like in some good lighting people!!

sweetkitty · 15/12/2019 07:20

I know it doesn’t hurt me just one of those irrational grr things.

Does it send out a message to young girls that your normal face isn’t good enough you need it all filtered out?

Don’t even start me with the duck pouts (I’m turning into an angry old woman)

I'll join you in to turning into an angry old woman then, as I have always hated these bloody filters! People are unrecognisable! The "stunning" comments too 😂 deary me!

As for PP who commented about posing and looking thinner, YES!!! My friend in the UK came to stay with us for a few weeks this year. In her pics she was stunning 😂 and looked a size 8.....she was a size 16. Nothing wrong with that but I felt catfished bit! Asked her how she manages to pose and get flattering angles and she has actually downloaded an app to make her teeth white, her skin flawless and to make herself look thinner (except the background often shows how she's stretched the pic)!

Again, each to their own, but she was a beautiful woman who didn't need to do this. It can't be good for your self esteem to do this, surely?

transformandriseup · 15/12/2019 07:34

I've forgotten what some of my friends actually look like and some of them put filters on their children on babies too.

WhenYouCantRunYouCrawl · 15/12/2019 07:35

www.reddit.com/r/Instagramreality

There's a whole subreddit dedicated to just this! It's eye opening just how much stuff is filtered.

My cousin posts loads of selfies that depict her with flawless skin. We all know she has pores and freckles in real life. It's ridiculous.

Freesunglasses · 15/12/2019 07:36

These drive me mad. People look nothing like their real selves and when their friends comment "you look gorgeous hun" yes cause it isn't them.
A friend did it last week and made her eye really.big someone commented "your eyes look amazing"
Friend who'd put it on said "aww thanks" Hmm

Oysterbabe · 15/12/2019 07:43

It's a shame really that people don't like their actual face. A friend posted a picture in hospital with her brand new baby and it was filtered to fuck and had those little animal ears! I love the picture of me looking knackered and like shit after giving birth but with a huge grin.

TeethingBabyHelp · 15/12/2019 07:44

I stopped filtering any pictures when my DS was born. I had a nice picture of me and him but I looked shattered so went to put a filter in and it made lovely DS look so odd!! And it made me think "I bet that's what my mom thinks about pics of me" and stopped.
I now just look shattered in my pictures but I look shattered in real life too so it's fine. At least if I go missing there will be pictures to actually help find me

AlpacaGoodnight · 15/12/2019 08:33

I also think of Lord Voldemort everytime I see a filtered nose! Duck pout makes me cringe so much!

thenightsky · 15/12/2019 10:25

I've given up ever posting photos of me on any social media. Its partly because I'm old and look like shit and partly because I'm too old to figure out how the hell filters even work (I have tried honestly).
