I actually did read the other thread about dp phrases people hate during an argument and it inspired me to start this one so to speak. Slightly different question however.

I'd hate to hear the phrase 'you're fired' if it was directed to me. Would also not be keen on 'shall we get a divorce'. Other than that, most phrases are ok with me!!

We are bombarded with infuriating misplaced reflexive pronouns all over the place - "Can I send it to yourself in writing?" etc. and then some utter dolt has to invent an even more annoying phrase that needs a reflexive pronoun but doesn't have one.

Also its sister phrase "FFS". Both of them just designed to make the writer feel all jaunty and acerbic in the manner of Fiona out of Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Any question with "obtuse" in it, framed as an insult. Ass if it wasn't directly pulled from the Shawshank Redemption. Trying to seriously pass it off as a wise or original remark as if we all haven't seen the Shawshank Redemption and its clever use of the word "obtuse" from 1994 onwards, is taking the piss...

The word grab makes me angry and immediately puts me off buying whatever it is. It’s such a greedy word and it’s used a lot.

"Bellyaching" about something. The word "belly" in general. I just always instantly picture a large rotund man's hairy "belly" hanging out of a too-short t-shirt.

Bellybutton as a word is passable but even then I'm not keen.

Ah yes birdshit, "ducks in a row". It struck me as inspired choice of phrase the very first time I read it in connection with a LTB thread in 2006 over a DH who had burnt the toast/forgotten to put the bins out, but 3647637774 uses later it's lost its originality somewhat.

My DMum has a magazine called "Canda" they have a gift/giveaway page and always put "Up For Grabs" . It makes me wince .
