Can I just hibernate for the rest of the day

It's windy, cold, rainy. Can I just leave the kids at school and hibernate for the rest of the day? (I would curl up in bed, shut my laptop so no work, and disappear until the morning.) The kids would be ok wouldn't they? (Eldest can walk himself home - I would only be abandoning 2/3's of them!)

I'm making my other half get dss7 from school so I don't have to go through the rigmarole of getting me and dd8months dressed in waterproofs and ready to be rained on

crispysausagerolls · 12/12/2019 14:43

YANBU. DS has foul cough/cold so we are inside having frequent naps and in our jammies. Dragged myself out to vote and now I am bloody done for the day. Will be nice when he goes to bed so I can slob around but with delicious snacks

Mumdiva99 · 12/12/2019 14:49

Thanks for agreeing with me.

@Rosieposies deffo don't take baby out.

@Crispysausagerolls hope you and DS get better soon.

(I feel a bit guilty as I'm just being a lazy a* so should probably buck up and get my kids.)

I'm counting my blessings that I don't have to do the school run. Snuggly at home with a snoozing toddler

GiveHerHellFromUs · 12/12/2019 15:22

YANBU. I really wanted to go and vote before it gets dark because DP will be home late from work so don't know whether I'd be able to go later once baby is getting settled for the night, so we had to go out in this bloody miserable weather.
Stay put!

MojoMoon · 12/12/2019 15:42

No because you need to get out and vote!

kelper · 12/12/2019 15:47

Thank god DS will bring himself home now, I don't miss the school run at all!
However I've just woken from a night shift and need to go and vote, its nearly bloody dark!
And I have to work tonight too :-/
Can't justify driving because its literally a 5 minute walk, but god it looks grim outside!

NotSorry · 12/12/2019 15:53

so fed up with school run and still another week to go

DH wants me to take him back to work later for his christmas do and then pick him up even later when he drunk and I really just want to go to bed early and watch naff Christmas films

OP YANBU!!

GoKartMozart · 12/12/2019 15:55

Tempting isn't it? I had to take the bin down earlier and got soaked.

As it happens DH is out for his works meal tonight so as soon as the shopping has arrived it's PJ's on, junk food in the microwave for dinner for one and something decent on the box. Might even crack open the quality street.

Boristhecats · 12/12/2019 16:15

This week I have been leaving work at 2pm. Coming home getting into my pjs sat by the fire and watched crap on the tv. My son is nearly 16 so I don’t have to get him from school.
It has been total bliss so warm and cosy. Just lovely.
Today I had to pick him up from school and take him to physio. I also have to go and vote. I’m not in my pjs and I’m not happy about it. It’s cold and wet and horrible outside.

adaline · 12/12/2019 16:29

I've been on the sofa in my pyjamas since about 9am this morning - perfect!

QuestionableMouse · 12/12/2019 16:33

I'm trying to get up the energy to talk to the polling station. It's only half a mile or so but its pissing down and I know I'm going to be soaked by the time I get there and back.

Mumdiva99 · 12/12/2019 17:26

@Mojomoon definitely already did that.

@gokartmozart that sound lush.

Enjoy the indoors everyone....off out again to pick up the kids from youth club.

@QuestionableMouse western privilege. It’s only a bit of rain, use your god damn vote.

QuestionableMouse · 12/12/2019 18:42

@Whattodoabout chill your fucking beans mate. I've been. I'm avoiding the cold because I have a chest infection and it makes me cough. I've never missed voting once. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mumdiva99 · 13/12/2019 11:21

@QuestionableMouse - I hope you are feeling a bit better today. There is a glimmer of sunshine here...I hope it helps your cough.
