She has been talking about the postal votes and how they look for the Labour party.

Either it's misinformation she's been given, or she is just telling what she knows.

Either way, she should know the law about postal votes.

"Anyone attending a postal vote opening session has a duty to maintain secrecy. Ballot papers will be kept face down throughout a postal vote opening sessio"

"It may be an offence to communicate any information obtained at postal vote opening sessions, including about votes cast, before a poll has closed. Anyone with information to suggest this has happened should report it immediately to the police"

She should be aware of the rules and know when to keep quiet. I would have thought that since she had been caught out recently with tweeting fake news from Conservative sources, she would have been more careful.

MN is hilarious when it comes to LK and the BBC.

They are so far left leaning that they'll topple over if they go much further but according to MN they're second only to the BNP in their right wing bias.

Get your heads out of your arses people.

Branster · 11/12/2019 17:19

She may be a journalist by profession but she doesn’t show it. It’s all gossip and ‘the end of the world’ negativism about everything and anything. I haven’t picked up any pro-Conservative vibes from her reporting. She appears to be utterly disgusted with all of them - which of course she has the right to but it trickles down in her way of presenting so much so that is impossible to watch or listen to.
As it was well pointed out in the other thread, she does wear nice coats. And she is presentable and she has the best platform as a woman. Sadly she’s not up to the job. I’m looking forward to a conclusion to Brexit (of any kind by now) just so I don’t have to see and hear her all the time.

XingMing · 11/12/2019 17:25

I rather thought the postal vote counts were what John Ashworth was referring to in yesterday's news story.

Trewser · 11/12/2019 17:27

She's a journalist, and a good one. Leave her alone to do her job.

SunshineCake · 11/12/2019 17:28

I'd have more time for her if she didn't say 50 words when 15 would do.

Hilarious that people think the BBC is pro tory!

Breathlessness · 11/12/2019 17:34

’She's a journalist, and a good one. Leave her alone to do her job.’

This ^

Trewser · 11/12/2019 17:35

Get your heads out of your arses people i have to agree. This thread is pathetic.

Dowser · 11/12/2019 17:36

OST also vote closes 20 pm tomorrow night

Dowser · 11/12/2019 17:36

InfiniteSheldon · 11/12/2019 17:41

BBC Pro Tory Grin that made me snort my tea out give your head a wobble

chomalungma · 11/12/2019 17:42

This thread is pathetic

So you're ok with a BBC journalist breaking electoral law - we have rules for a reason.

A good journalist is the person who works for The Yorkshire Post who fact checked a story before putting it in their paper.

Not someone who tweets out Fake news because it came from a Conservative source.

BlaueLagune · 11/12/2019 17:45

I am leftish-leaning and I think the BBC are pretty left-leaning. So any accusations of them being pro-Tory are wide of the mark I think.

However, if you ask me if they are pro-Farage...

BlaueLagune · 11/12/2019 17:45

And no that's not a contradiction - they can be lefty "right on" and give Farage airtime on QT as well!

RedWineIsFabulous · 11/12/2019 17:49

This woman and the bbc are as biased as they come

It's absolutely disgusting

RedWineIsFabulous · 11/12/2019 17:51

To add left wing bias...

Absolutely fucking mad to suggest they are pro Tory

What they choose to cover and how they cover it , is absolutely outrageous.

It is absolutely wrong. They are there to be impartial.

3weemonkeys · 11/12/2019 17:52

Laura Kuenssburg for Prime Minister! I know, not helpful, but she's great!

Sparklesocks · 11/12/2019 17:55

It’s worrying that she may have or knows someone who has access to postal votes - it’s a huge breach. Don’t think posters who are concerned about this are ‘pathetic’

emberember · 11/12/2019 18:02

I've worked in politics and attended a number of postal vote verification sessions. When postal votes come in over the period leading up the election, they are scanned on receipt, collected up and regularly opened to be verified. This means that clerical staff check that the declaration has been correctly completed and the number on the ballot paper matches the number on the statement.

Votes are then placed in piles, ready to be counted after the polls have closed. Each candidate in an election has a right to have representatives present at the verification, in order to ensure that it is all above board. This is overseen by staff from Electoral Services. Depending on the process they follow, it is often possible to see a fair number of ballot papers being opened (even if they open them upside down) and keep a tally of who they voted for.

As people have stated above, it is illegal to pass on this information, however in most political parties, the rough result of early postal votes will be known by some of the campaign team. I worked for a council where we were allowed to openly count the votes when they were being opened, but I think most councils are more cautious. Parties are also aware of the law and frown upon passing this information on, but it is not difficult to read the mood in a campaign team.

Rofl laughing at the numpties on here. LK is so far left she’s almost in bed with JC.

For what it’s worth The BBC bias stems from the fact that the elites that work there are all leftists and they will get nice public hand outs for promoting identity politics and Labour will not look at licence fee removal unlike the Conservatives. Hence BBC Bias to the left.

SerendipityJane · 11/12/2019 18:59

What an absolute bonkers thread.

Seriously op, she's broken no law, the votes aren't even counted yet, give it up,

marvellousnightforamooncup · 11/12/2019 19:05

I think she has broken a law actually. It's illegal to view and count postal votes before the election. It's worse to try and influence the election by doing it.

Usually postal votes are counted after polls are closed. She's either lied or broken the law.
