Apart from the things typically recommended such as aloe Vera, oconut oil, honey and so on?

The surgeon who did my hip replacement highly recommended Kelo Cote gel. Its quite expensive but my scar is turning from purple to white already and I only had the operation 9 weeks ago.

Not really sure what you can do, but try not to get it cold (difficult in winter I know).

StickyToffeeTart · 10/12/2019 22:01

Kelocote and if it's a surgical scar massage it

Minxmumma · 10/12/2019 22:03

Massage, kelocote and avoid sunburn if it is exposed as it will go dark. Persistence pays I've found and I have a fair bit of experience

Booboostwo · 10/12/2019 22:03

Kelocote the silicon gel

Flyingfish2019 · 10/12/2019 22:05

Looked up Kelocote. Those who buy it see to be very happy with it.

Massage and I also used those scar gel strips you can get. No idea if they did anything but my scar is well faded. I was scrupulous about sun protection too.

TheGlitterFairy · 10/12/2019 22:55

Bio Oil is meant to be very good too.

NotAVirtue · 10/12/2019 22:58

We were recommended silicone gel by a plastic surgeon

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 10/12/2019 22:58

The silicone sheets are fantastic, I could see daily reduction in the severity of the scar on my hand using those. It will never ever go away but is very faded now.

baffledbeyondbelief · 10/12/2019 23:00

I've got the Superdrug's own brand scar gel which seems to be working.

olympicsrock · 10/12/2019 23:07

When I did plastic surgery we recommended silicon strips however massage is actually the most important thing - with anything such as E45. Small circular motion with firm pressure.

olympicsrock · 10/12/2019 23:07

And sun avoidance / factor 50 for 6 months

which1 · 10/12/2019 23:18

Will any of these work on skin redness on the face resulting from picking at spots or bug bites- post inflammatory hyper pigmentation?
