dp phrases that give you the rage

Is it just me that gets the rage over phrases that partners always use in an argument??

When ever we have had an argument he always states that he's not arguing, he's stating facts (which is utter crap btw). It just makes me go arrrggggg and want to slap him (never have, and wouldn't) it just makes me feel that way.

Please tell me I'm not alone Grin

Idiot ex used to say "unquote" at the end of something he hadn't ever said "quote" to start with. Fanny.

WatchingTheMoon · 14/12/2019 03:23

"Idiot ex used to say "unquote" at the end of something he hadn't ever said "quote" to start with"

No wonder he's an ex.

ClinkyMonkey · 14/12/2019 04:26

'Do you understand?'

Said very brusquely when I have the audacity not to agree with him on some point. Because OF COURSE I don't understand, because if I DID, I would agree with him, innit?!!

Grrr...

Esssa · 14/12/2019 09:19

"I KNEW it'd be MY fault" said whenever I mention something that hasn't happened or worked out the way we intended or we ran out of time due to circumstance etc. No love I'm not apportioning blame. You'd know full well if I was blaming you! Argh! It bloody will be your fault if I bury you under the patio for saying it one too many times!

Mj2196 · 14/12/2019 09:48

My dp won’t argue with me he just Agrees with everything I say -Yes your right oh yes I am a ‘x y z ‘completely sarcastically 😐
Another one in the “ I’m in the wrong again , I’m the bad guy&oh yes It’s all my fault isn’t it club erm Yes darling if the fucking boot fits .

If I continue he chucks in a whatever I’m not arguing with you for good luck . . Sometimes I’d love a right good row lmao

My ex used to respond to any slight disagreement with if you don’t like it you know where the door is - I’ll never forget the Day I finally agreed and walked the fuck out of it 😂

jinglebelldogs · 14/12/2019 10:04

@Slazengerbag my dh does this. Says he spends all his time doing housework. Where? The floors haven't been hoovered or mopped and the bathroom isn't clean. Oh - but the garage is organised and the porch got a wash. Brilliant.

Mine likes to say 'don't tell me off'. Well if you weren't being a twat I wouldn't tell you off for it!

jinglebelldogs · 14/12/2019 10:16

He also does that thing of saying I'm shouting when I'm not. If I was bloody shouting you'd know.

Shodan · 14/12/2019 15:08

@NearlyGranny
Shodan, that thing your XH did of saying he'd give up all his activities altogether because you asked for one compromise, that's polarising.

I wish I'd known that back then! I resorted to "Don't you know the fucking definition of the word compromise?" Blush Grin

PrettyLittleBrownEyedMe's ironing episode reminded me of another one from XH:
If someone accidentally dropped/damaged/broke something (genuine accidents) he'd scowl and say "What did you do THAT for?" , as if it had been done purposefully and maliciously.

Strange man. Glad I don't have to deal with him any more!

tillytrotter1 · 14/12/2019 18:05

I wonder what DP's would say about thngs that annoy them? Personally I finish his sentences when he's struggling to find the right words in an argument, that really annoys him! I also refer to 'a man-sized portion', a phrase that his mother used to use that he hates, she once argued with a waiter because the 'slip of a girl' at the next table had a bigger Yorkshire pudding than he had, she never accepted that if you paid the same you got the same.

NearlyGranny · 14/12/2019 23:45

"Let's not talk about this now," whenever a challenging issue is raised. Sounds reasonable, right? Except it was, "Not now when we haven't eaten yet/have just eaten/it's too early/too late/it's the weekend/a work day/the children are in the house/the children are out..." You get it. It was literally never the right time to discuss his behaviour! Then it was, "Are you still thinking about that?" Well yes, because we never got to discuss it and nothing is resolved!

Rose789 · 14/12/2019 23:50

“Sorry you feel that way”

Saracen · 15/12/2019 00:36

"You're just DISMISSING me. You DISMISS my opinions." (waving hand vigorously to illustrate how I'm supposedly brushing him off)
...said when I have sat patiently listening to him explain his POV for some time, and then told him I disagree with him. Apparently I am not allowed to disagree because this indicates a fundamental lack of respect for him.
