....for eating my dinner! (Leon chicken satay box, not very stinky). She keeps side-eyeing me every time I take a mouthful. Am also a tweny by it tipsy after post off-site drinks. It's been a looooong day ( up v early for train to London then full day of meetings).
She's going to be even more enraged when I get the mince pie dessert out in a minute! Grin

Breakfast in bed is the BEST.

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:37

I love to surprise DD with breakfast in bed! Pot of tea, toast soldiers and soft-boiled egg, bowl of fruit.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/12/2019 21:38

@ RougeVinEtFromage weird to single me out when so many other posters say the same thing!

Bluntness100 · 10/12/2019 21:40

Meh, if you were sitting next to me a bit tipsy and eating your dinner I'd smile at you and say something like that looks good.

BennyTheBall · 10/12/2019 21:40

I wouldn't dream of imposing the smell of my dinner upon fellow train passengers. I think it's selfish and anti-social, so yes, I'd wait until I got home.

ReggieLedoux · 10/12/2019 21:40

If eating on a Train is ‘grim’ do the same rules apply to flights ? Everybody eats and drinks on flights

Andylion · 10/12/2019 21:40

Ah this explains the murder then. Grin

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:41

Oh, man, I'd be jealous if someone with vin rouge and fromage sat next to me. Mmm.

thepeopleversuswork · 10/12/2019 21:41

I find the idea that eating smelly food is “offensive” so unbelievably uptight and anal. It makes me wonder how some of you get through the day with this wide variety of small offences against your olfactory zen...

Roaring drunk eating a curry on a tube is a bit off. Woman eating a Leon takeout... have a word with yourselves

Lindy2 · 10/12/2019 21:42

You're on a long distance train. Eating is practically compulsory to help pass the time. That's why there is almost certainly a buffet carriage somewhere on the train with lots of other people buying their dinner.

andpancakesforbreakfast · 10/12/2019 21:42

We all know some people are truly disgusting. I love the fact that it's a badge of honour for some. You get what you can find I guess.

Gingerninja01 · 10/12/2019 21:43

Are you a noisy eater? Is your food strong smelling? Would probably irritate me to be honest if so.

Myotherusernamewastakenagain · 10/12/2019 21:44

I often get a 7pm train back from London so grab some tea from one of the takeaways at the station, usually hot as you can't really eat a sandwich when you're on expenses for tea. It's usually a burger or something from itsu and occasionally a burrito.

I will eat literally anything you can buy on the high street so won't bat an eyelid if someone wants to eat next to me.

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:44

I find Pret a real rip off. When I find it, I pass it up. Not seen a Leon, but I usually bring my own food for long trips.

CherryPavlova · 10/12/2019 21:48

Flights are slightly different as meals are served at a set time usually, so everyone is eating. You’re not usually sitting squashed in against someone either and you can put your screens up.

andpancakesforbreakfast · 10/12/2019 21:51

I bet some of the posters on here are not so open-minded when sat next to someone who is noisy, smelly, farting or any other common nuisance

beautifulstranger101 · 10/12/2019 21:51

Yep- this exactly. Also, sometimes, I find there is a thinly veiled thread of racism that runs through "nasty stinky food" complaints because it often refers to food that isn't super white and English. Not saying thats the case with everyone but often, thats what is implied.

gavisconismyfriend · 10/12/2019 21:52

I’d be side eyeing you cos I’d be jealous! I’d have done a stupid “healthy” shop in pret - green juice, carb-free salad and a chia seed pudding - I’d be smelling your satay, mince pie and the delightful whiff of Christmassy alcohol and wishing I was you !

messolini9 · 10/12/2019 21:53

people can smell your bra if you have worn it more than

Grin Grin Grin

Reminds me of a thread, something to do with hygiene, & the self-appointed MN Standards Police For The Day hoiked up to inform everyone that "if you don't shower at least once a day I can smell your body."

BODIES! Those quite DISGUSTING flesh cocoons that Nobody Naice admits to even inhabiting!

SgtFredColon · 10/12/2019 21:54

What? Why not otherusername?

Not that you shouldn’t get something hot just wondering why expenses makes a difference

Disfordarkchocolate · 10/12/2019 21:55

Enjoy OP. Some very grumpy people here. Nearly all the food train companies sell is either smelly or noisy. At least yours sounds nice. What are people supposed to do when they will be travelling for hours?

Myotherusernamewastakenagain · 10/12/2019 21:57

Usually the more expensive the food the better it tastes. A sub-£5 sandwich just doesn't cut it as a meal.

dontalltalkatonce · 10/12/2019 21:58

Yes, messolini, but, you're not allowed to use any scented soap, shower gel, shampoo, deodorant, perfume or aftershave because any of these also cause everyone round you to gag, vom, have to move, get an instant migraine, reeks, pongs, doused is perfume.

andpancakesforbreakfast · 10/12/2019 21:58

god forbid someone could be deprived of food for more than 30 minutes. Passengers would be dead on arrival! Grin Grin Grin

Cos ... REASONS, @SgtFredColon!
Expenses = Someone Else's Money, which obvs the hardworking & diligent company rep is far keener to spend than her own, so puts to good use on a treat the like of which she would not lash out her own cash on quite so freely.

It's The Law.
