I'm new here. Very embarrassed to even start to write this. I have been hAving this for a long long time now. I am a very clean woman I shower every single day. But I am constantly sweating down there and it smells really bad. Even during sex I can smell it. I'm so embarrassed and don't know what to do. I've also heard to no use soap down there and just water. I have bought soap free wash and it just doesn't seem to help. What can
I do?

Go to doctor or gum clinic. They will do tests.

user72828847473829 · 09/12/2019 21:57

Tests for what?

OP posts:
steff13 · 09/12/2019 21:58

Go to the doctor. If they don't find anything, I find that Lume is good for that area.

steff13 · 09/12/2019 21:58

Tests for what?

The doctor will know what to test for.

user72828847473829 · 09/12/2019 21:59

Thanks for the replied ladies. The smell isn't coming from the sweat either it's just a horrible smell.

You may have bacterial vaginosis, and may require antibiotics (google it) please see a GP

Elodie2019 · 09/12/2019 22:04

Doctor will test for infections.
If you are all ok, wear pantyliners. They will help.

StillWeRise · 09/12/2019 22:05

YABU for talking about 'down below problems'
'soap free wash' is just more chemicals. Under normal circumstances your vagina is self cleaning, you should wash your vulva with water only or at most with a very plain unscented soap, you should avoid very tight/synthetic underwear and jeans.

If this fails to correct the problem, or if you have other symptoms such as itching, go to a doctor/sexual health clinic.

Wheredidigowrongggggg · 09/12/2019 22:07

Yes double check no infections. If not then it might be sweat collecting in your pubic hair - sounds gross but it does happen. Clip it really short and DO use plain soap to clean off sweat and smell. Of course you need soap - not in your vagina but definitely around the outside where the pubic hair is - otherwise it will stink - so many sweat glands down there!

Peri menopause gave me night sweats and I started to smell too. Clipped pubic hair very short (almost none at all), plain soap to wash pubic area (dove or shower gel simply doesn’t cut it), replaced all underwear (the smell can linger silently on old underwear especially when non natural fibre, and then re-emerge when damp if you sweat) and only wear cotton. I also use vaginal powder when I exercise and change trousers/jeans daily. Vigilant personal hygiene.

Northernsoullover · 09/12/2019 22:07

As PP said it might be BV. See GP.

gamerchick · 09/12/2019 22:07

If you go to the GUM clinic they will screen you for everything. If you have BV or the likes of thrush they will tell you immediately.

Or there's a test by canesten at the supermarket which can test you for BV and thrush and the treatment for it. Personally I would go to the gum clinic.

They're lovely there, it doesn't take long.

GreytExpectations · 09/12/2019 22:10

Mumsnet is an online chat forum, not a medical service. Don't be daft, go to your GP or a clinic and explain your symptoms to them. As they are medical professionals they will know what to look for. Also, I doubt many other people will give you stories you are looking for...

MistyCloud · 09/12/2019 22:16

@user72828847473829

Could be that you are washing TOO often and TOO frequently.

Agree with the posters here that you need to see a GP.

Good luck!

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 09/12/2019 22:18

Op don't worry it's likely to just be BV which is essentially an imbalance in your PH, can be caused by soaps / sex etc. It can present as excessive discharge and an unpleasant odour. It's usually confirmed via a swab test and antibiotics. I did notice canesten have a new test and treatment but I'm not sure how effective it is?
Also there is nothing wrong to ask this on here especially if you are worried.

Whyhaveidonethis · 09/12/2019 22:19

Sounds like BV. It smells awful. When I had it it got 2orse after sex. Short course of antibiotics cured it. You can buy Over The Counter treatments too but they aren't great or weren't for me.

Mine kept recurring until I had my coil removed.

Whyhaveidonethis · 09/12/2019 22:22

I should add that the only symptoms I had 90% of the time with BV was the smell. Occasionally itching and sore but mostly the smell. It's awful

user72828847473829 · 09/12/2019 22:23

@GreytExpectations . Sorry. I was just asking for some advice really as what to do. I'm new here sorry again.

Whyhaveidonethis · 09/12/2019 22:24

@user72828847473829 don't apologise. You have done nothing wrong.

GreytExpectations · 09/12/2019 22:25

I'm new here sorry again

What does being new here have to do with not realising that you go to a doctor for medical advice and not an online forum?

user72828847473829 · 09/12/2019 22:25

Is there anything I can do without seeing a gp. I would be quite embarrassed

user72828847473829 · 09/12/2019 22:27

I was more asking for anything that I could do to help this problem without seeing a doctor. how can I delete this. Didn't think I would get any nasty comments.

Cillit Bang and a scourer.

user72828847473829 · 09/12/2019 22:30

And again just nasty ignorant comments. If u have nothing I've to say or no good advice don't bother commenting.

OP posts:
OxiBrilloRange · 09/12/2019 22:31

You can get a self test kit from pharmacies. That might help put some worries to rest.

Is the smell fishy?

Please ignore people who come on here and leave negative comments, they really don't have anything else to do, and very wrongly assume they're better than everyone else. (Don't tell them the truth, that no one shivs-a-git about their opinion)

Could you see a gynecologist? That's who I'd see if I had this issue.
