AIBU to tell you how happy I am to be going to my first nativity tomorrow?

I was diagnosed with cancer just after my daughter turned two, seeing her in her first nativity at school was not something I was expecting to be around for. I'm currently in remission, despite being told I'm stage 4 and can't be cured. AIBU to be absolutely to the point of weeping happy that I'll be seeing her on stage in the morning and to ask what you're happy about right now too and start a little happy thread? Xmas Smile

That’s lovely to read, OP. I bet she’ll be a lovely angel. Enjoy every happy-weepy moment. Flowers

chinam · 09/12/2019 20:34

That's just wonderful. Enjoy every minute Xmas Smile

TuttiCutie · 09/12/2019 20:35

Brilliant - enjoy every second!

Sharpen your elbows and when the doors open SPRINT for a front row seat, don't take any prisoners Grin

Ostanovka · 09/12/2019 20:36

Hope you get front row seats! And hope you can grab your angel for a quick photo together at the end.

SantasLittleHelper2019 · 09/12/2019 20:37

Thank you for posting. Am so happy for you and what a special day it will be tomorrow.

MinistryOfTragic · 09/12/2019 20:37

@DontBuyANewMumCashmere Then you have a very special nativity of your own to look forward to. I'm really happy for you. ❤️

@Bluetrews25 That's really made me chuckle, I bet he was the best second robot anyone's ever seen. 😂

@CherryPavlova you do paint a picture. 😂

I'll be taking as many pictures as I'm allowed to. No doubt will be the subject of an AIBU tomorrow for it.

Thank you OP for putting things back into perspective for me.

I hope you have a lovely time at the nativity.

Well done to be so brave ❤️ Your daughter will be so proud to have you there and will always remember you smiling in the audience. If you can snap a pic of her and you together and get it framed for her to keep in her bedroom, she will treasure it and know that she was your angel.

LoopyLou1981 · 09/12/2019 20:50

It’s lovely to read such a happy post and I’m so pleased that you got to see your little girl in her nativity.
When my son left pre-school, his key worked told me that he’d struggle to join in, he wouldn’t make friends (he was always attached to one of the staff) and he’s lose what little confidence that he had in a school environment.
Last friday he stood up in front of all of the reception parents and opened their Christmas concert with a little welcome speech...obviously I cried 🥰

unkindnessofravens · 09/12/2019 20:50

This is the best thread I've read on here in a long time, enjoy every second OP Thanks and have a wonderful Christmas with your family

KitKat1985 · 09/12/2019 20:54

That's beautiful OP. I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow. x

Yesmate · 09/12/2019 20:56

You won’t be the only sobbing mum. Enjoy the special moment and I hope your DD has a wonderful time being an angel

lettersbyowl · 09/12/2019 21:00

That is so lovely OP, I'm so pleased for you!! I bet she will be brilliant Smile I'm happy today because I'm 32 years old, finally pregnant with my first and my friend said to me today "your bump has popped" which made me finally feel pregnant and I felt so proud and happy!! Love the idea of a happy thread Xmas Grin

Vinosaurus · 09/12/2019 21:01

I am SO BLOODY HAPPY for you. Take in every second of it, although I'm sure you don't need me telling you that. This has honestly made my Christmas.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 09/12/2019 21:02

How very lovely for you both. Treasure the moments. Your post is a good reminder for us all.

formerbabe · 09/12/2019 21:03

Lovely...hope you enjoy every minute! Take tissues...I cry every single year Blush

Babdoc · 09/12/2019 21:05

Oh, OP, that is just so lovely. I came home from the Candlelight Carol service in the next village this evening and read your post, and it encapsulated all the joy, hope, love and wonder of Christmas.
God bless you, and may you have lots more special moments to treasure with your daughter.

Walnutwhipster · 09/12/2019 21:05

Enjoy every minute and don't forget the tissues. What a wonderful story to read. As someone who has a life threatening condition I can absolutely empathise with you, cherish moments like this.

ScreamingLadySutch · 09/12/2019 21:07

Lovely, special post!

MintyMabel · 09/12/2019 21:08

I'm going to be "that Mum" sobbing in the audience but I don't care.

I was that mum when I watched DD climb up onto the stage on her walking sticks for the first time (she’d previously only managed in a walking frame) sobbed like a real sop. Loved every moment of it.

Enjoy your nativity.

Slat3 · 09/12/2019 21:10

Aw how lovely. You are so brave, can’t imagine what you are all going through.

It’s my eldests first nativity tomorrow - I’m so excited. He plays a king. Will be thinking of you OP Star

CactusSmactus · 09/12/2019 21:11

This is a wonderful post to read, I’m so happy for you OP!

You won’t be the only one crying so don’t worry about that in the slightest, as some PP have mentioned though you will need to get there early for a decent seat. Aw I’ll be thinking of you and your little angel tomorrow and smiling FlowersXmas Smile

MinistryOfTragic · 09/12/2019 21:14

@user1471519931 That's a lovely idea, I'm definitely going to try to get a picture. 😇

@LoopyLou1981 That's awesome. How fantastic for you all, but especially him. I hope he was as proud of himself as you were of him. 😊

@lettersbyowl Huge congratulations, next year's Christmas will be very different for you - in the best way. The very best of everything for the rest of your pregnancy and welcoming your little one to the world. You'll be looking forward to your own special nativity in no time. ❤️

I have just put a packet of tissues in my bag, I actually hadn't thought of it so thank you to those who did. I don't want to be a snotty mess as well as an emotional one. 😂

Stereomum · 09/12/2019 21:17

Enjoy every second, and get there early to bag a front row seat!

formerbabe · 09/12/2019 21:18

It's always fun to see how they'll react on stage when they see you in the audience. One of my dc always waves to me while the other pretends they can't see me because they need to focus...apparently Grin
