One of those little things that keeps popping into my head when I get in the shower and I thought you lot wouldn't mind a quick vote!

I always have my back to the shower head to start but on TV they always seem to face it.

YABU - I have my back to the shower

YANBU - I face the shower

Face the shower. So I can control temp and the shampoos etc are in front of my to grab. Water in my face doesn’t bother me, I like it!

mrswishywashy1 · 09/12/2019 15:26

Get in and face the shower, wash all over and rinse then turn my back to the shower to shave my legs and wash my hair Grin

Skinnychip · 09/12/2019 15:49

Face on. Otherwise how do you use the controls!

Our controls are the opposite wall to the shower head!

ShannonShouts · 09/12/2019 16:01

I always face the shower

Deelish75 · 09/12/2019 16:24

Get in facing shower. Back to shower whilst washing and rinsing hair then front to shower whilst washing face and body. (Front, back, front)

clippyclippy · 09/12/2019 17:47

Face on. Otherwise how do you use the controls!

I turn it on from outside, using my hands to get the temperature right (this is presumably normal, because nobody wants to get into a cold shower) and then that's it. I don't need the controls again until I turn it off. Why would I??

Nodancingshoes · 09/12/2019 17:51

I face away from the shower to wash my long hair. Just asked Dh and he faces the shower

DonkeyHotty · 09/12/2019 17:51

Back to shower, but thinking about it, dh faces the shower. I think my reasoning is something to do with not wanting to get my hair wet; even if I wear a shower cap or leaks if I stand fully submerged. I don’t think dh has such concerns!

DonkeyHotty · 09/12/2019 17:51

Cross posts dancingshoes... perhaps it’s a man thing?

Dontstepinthecowpat · 09/12/2019 17:53

This has blown my mind Shock surely going in backwards is a health and safety minefield!

Moominfan · 09/12/2019 17:54

I rotate like a rotisserie chicken

bobsyourauntie · 09/12/2019 17:56

My shower controls are left turned on , on the actual shower, so you pull the switch on the wall, then by the time you get undressed and in it, it is the right temperature. You must never touch the controls or the carefully balanced temperature will suddenly become freezing or boiling Grin

It is a totally shite shower, not at all powerful, especially in winter when the water is so much colder in the pipes (direct cold feed only) and takes so much longer to heat up, so I face it while I wash myself and face away when i rinse my hair off.

Have never given it much thought until I read this thread.

clippyclippy · 09/12/2019 18:09

I don't think anyone actually backs in Grin, just that once in, they stand with back to shower.

RiftGibbon · 09/12/2019 18:11

I back in, turn around whilst washing and end up getting out with my back to the shower.
I have the shower head angled so it doesn't spray me in the face.

JeezyPeeps · 09/12/2019 18:16

I'm confused. I go underneath the shower. What are you facing (or not) ? The controls? The actual shower head?

OldEvilOwl · 09/12/2019 18:22

Front to the shower first so I can make sure the temperature is right with my hands then arms before I get under properly. Then turn around to get the hot water on my shoulders that are sometimes sore, so that's nice. Then turn around constantly to wash/shave etc

Ticklemeelmo · 09/12/2019 18:25

Back to the shower, otherwise it's spraying in your face?!

AllergicToAMop · 09/12/2019 18:34

Front to shower and wash my face, then turn and wet hair, then turn and shampoo, then turn and wash out, then turn and condition, then turn and wash myself, then turn and wash out conditioner, then turn and wash my face again, aaand out😂

MrsWednesdayteatime · 09/12/2019 18:37

I spin around in the shower like an elephant leg in a kebab shop window

ByAppointmentTo · 09/12/2019 19:50

Face to the shower!

busybarbara · 09/12/2019 20:00

Face the shower as then I can see and reach the various things I use. If I had my back to the shower I’d have to keep turning around anyway

BusterTheBulldog · 09/12/2019 20:03

Genuinely expected this to be 98% shower facing. Can’t get over that people go in back first! 🤯

NothingTraLaLa · 09/12/2019 21:22

Forward facing, and unlike most on this thread I wash my hair bent slightly forward so that I can get a good lather on the back of my head. I did try to wash my hair with my back to the shower but it just doesn't get as clean.

Bloodybridget · 09/12/2019 21:27

I always face the shower controls, which are on the wall. The shower head is above my head, whichever way I stand.

MrsAdamDriver · 09/12/2019 21:36

I get into the shower, facing the shower head, then turn on the water, (low pressure) and wash my face first and then turn around to wet my hair, (I turn off the water when lathering my hair) then turn the water on to rinse the shampoo out, then clip it up.

Then I turn the water off and soap up my pits n bits, then turn the shower on again to rinse, turning around and around to rinse all the soap off. Sometimes I take the shower head down and rinse that way.

I use three minutes of water, (less if I’m not wasting my hair) but total time in shower takes ~10 minutes. I think it’s called a military shower!

I then apply moisturiser when standing dripping in the shower, then step out to dry.

I realise I spin around quite a lot, and don’t use much water at all.
