One of those little things that keeps popping into my head when I get in the shower and I thought you lot wouldn't mind a quick vote!

I always have my back to the shower head to start but on TV they always seem to face it.

YABU - I have my back to the shower

YANBU - I face the shower

Face the shower to wash all over/rinse, then turn round to do my hair. But that's because all my lovely unguents are on the little shelf attached to the shower pipe thing...so I need to face that way to use them 🤷‍♀️. When I had a 'shower over bath' type affair, these things were all on the end of the bath, so I faced the other way. It's all about efficacy 👍

CornishMaid1 · 09/12/2019 13:47

Step in forwards (don't want to try reversing into the bath) and turn on tap. Test temperature with foot.

Direction then depends on whether I need to wash my hair. If I wash my hair, I start back to shower and then turn. If I don't need to wash my hair I start face to shower and turn. Lots of turning in my shower!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 09/12/2019 13:48

Front to the shower until I wash my hair, I turn around for that.

McHorace · 09/12/2019 13:53

face to the shower to stay warm

AryaStarkWolf · 09/12/2019 13:55

Mostly back to shower but I spend some of the time the other way aswell

Emeraldshamrock · 09/12/2019 14:02

Back to shower.
DP face to shower.
I hate water flooding in my eyes. I bring my towels in too get dried in the hot steam.

Bunney2020 · 09/12/2019 14:04

Get in face to shower.
Turn and get back wet.
Face shower for shampooing.
Turn back for rinsing.
Same for soaping.
Do a few twirls depending on my mood, the worse the mood the longer I stay in faffing.

I'm overweigh though so I turn back and forth more to get the water over me better lol dies inside

Butterfly005 · 09/12/2019 14:10

I face the shower as it's warmer. Unless I'm washing my hair then obviously I turn round - though often in the movies you see people going in face-first into the water to wash their hair and it looks really uncomfortable! Hate putting my face into the shower!

OverthinkingThis · 09/12/2019 14:10

I wash my body facing the shower bit with my head not under it, and then turn so my back is towards the shower to rinse my hair

This! I always start facing the shower as I warm up quickest with the water pointed at my chest. I like really hot showers so never aim the water straight at my face, always the chest.

Besidesthepoint · 09/12/2019 14:11

I get in diagonally/front because I put my right big toe in first to check the temperature.

ALongHardWinter · 09/12/2019 14:15

South west.

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 09/12/2019 14:19

I’m mainly facing away but I do chop and change a fair bit when I’m in.

usernamerisnotavailable · 09/12/2019 14:21

Always face the shower.

clippyclippy · 09/12/2019 14:24

I don't walk in backwards so technically when I first get in, I'm facing the shower. But my neutral position is back to the shower. Then turn around while washing front, face, etc.

clippyclippy · 09/12/2019 14:26

I'm guessing most people have their head out of the water for most of the shower, and it feels like looking down and letting the shower run onto the back of your shoulders is much more comfortable than looking at the ceiling with it running onto your chest, surely?

Unless you have a very angled shower head, I suppose? Ours is above though, with the water falling straight down. Would make looking up to avoid getting my head/face wet very uncomfortable!!

SeeWhoRustsFirst · 09/12/2019 14:28

Love these kinds of topics where everyone thinks their way is the normal-and-only-possible-way! Reminds me of a Tim Minchin routine about never having had sex with a person other than your partner and wondering if it turns out nobody else does it like you two do Grin I think hungry hippos came into it somewhere..

I digress... I'm in team back-to-shower. Otherwise all that gets wet is your eyes, seemingly!

TheSubtleArt · 09/12/2019 14:30

Face the shower first,
Turn to wash hair
Face the shower to finish

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 09/12/2019 14:31

Face towards the shower to start with.
Turn a full circle to get fully wet and warm all over.
Back to the shower to soap body and wet hair.
Face to the shower to shave pits, rinse body and apply shampoo.
Back to the shower to rinse hair.
Final face to the shower to wash face.
(Back to the shower if shaving legs, which happens infrequently in this season of opaque tights and trousers.)

eenymeenyminyme · 09/12/2019 14:32

Do a few twirls depending on my mood

You go careful Bunney - if I did a few twirls I'd end up slipping all over the place Grin

BrainFart · 09/12/2019 14:36

Face to shower, with a little twirl to rinse the back. Like all habits, the opposite (back-to-shower) seems almost heathen and I can't understand why anybody would do it like that (!).

Skinnychip · 09/12/2019 14:40

I always face front to the shower head . Even if I am washing my hair (I probably contravene MN law by not washing my hair every shower) I start off with shower in my face and shower gel my body before washing my hair, at which point I would turn around.

Skinnychip · 09/12/2019 14:42

I feel more awake in the morning blasting the shower in my face!! (I don't get in until it's the right temperature)

LIZS · 09/12/2019 14:47

Face on. Otherwise how do you use the controls!

redappleandaquamarinebow1987 · 09/12/2019 14:50

Back towards it as I don’t like the water running down my face.

malpa · 09/12/2019 14:55

Your poll is confusing me...

I always have my back to the shower head to start but on TV they always seem to face it.

YABU - I have my back to the shower = "I disagree with you but do the same as you".

YANBU - I face the shower = "I agree with you but do the opposite to you".

Now I don't know which way to face in order to be reasonable! Xmas Grin

(Sod it, it's baths from now on.)
