So to make this as quick as possible, I have a 6 month old baby and now worrying that I’m in full pfb mode and that people won’t want these. I have had a professional photo shoot done of my baby and have got double photo frames and 2 of the photos printed for my parents, my partners parents, mine and my partners grandparents and my partners sister. Will these close family members actually want these or am I just too obsessed with my baby? I think I’d have appreciated a nice framed photo of my niece or nephew. All of them will get other presents too and I have receipt so can return frames if it’s a weird gift to give. So Aibu to give these as Xmas gifts?

Not for the sister but the parents and grandparents will love it.

Thesearmsofmine · 09/12/2019 10:09

It depends, my family all dislike the professional style shoots but I have given them natural photos that I have taken.

I wouldn’t for sister unless she is very involved and has lots of pictures up around her home.

CalmdownJanet · 09/12/2019 10:15

I'd hate this as a gift. Never give someone anything they feel they have to display in their home, I'll put up what I like in my house not what you like.

But for the love of god, can somebody please post a link to the necklace thread? It sounds like a belter

YES PLEEEEEASE!!!!!!!

ssd · 09/12/2019 10:38

Lovely gift, they will love them

OrangeZog · 09/12/2019 10:40

My parents would love this and I think it’s perfectly ok to give photographs of your children to grandparents, uncles and aunts. It’s weird to give a necklace engraved with your child’s name on to somebody else who has their own children already, so weird that the giver almost certainly has just embarrassed themselves by regifting without checking first of all. Grin What you are doing is absolutely fine.

OrangeZog · 09/12/2019 10:40

@MarianaMoatedGrange here

ssd · 09/12/2019 10:41

@CalmdownJanet, you'd hate a picture of your grandchild or niece/nephew?
Bloody hell, are you the grinch?

LolaSmiles · 09/12/2019 10:44

As a nice token gift then they are lovely, especially for grandparents.

I wouldn't make it a main present for anyone though.

Lyricallie · 09/12/2019 10:47

Fair enough grandparents. If my sister gave me one as a present I'd be polite of course but a bit Hmm

However this may be tainted by the fact growing up we never really had photos up or anything. Not my mum's thing.

MarianaMoatedGrange · 09/12/2019 11:19

Thank you OrangeZog!

Coffee, biscuits and a good read will now commence! Xmas Grin

AliBear90 · 09/12/2019 11:27

Just to add, partners sister dotes on our daughter, has no children of her own and unfortunately never will. We’ve not got one for my sister as she has 2 of her own children so thought she’d not particularly want one. Also yes they all have other gifts as well, this is just like an extra / side gift, however you want to word it

Parents and grandparents yes absolutely!

Sister? Not unless you know for 100% certain this is something she'd be into. As PP have said, some aunts might like this but a lot of aunts would be polite and then be stuck holding on to something they don't feel they can throw out.

My lovely SIL has gifted me a calendar every single year of my two nieces (oldest is now 14 that's how long it's been going on) for xmas. I dread it. I love my nieces to bits but I can't bring myself to throw away photographs of loved ones so I have a drawer that's totally wasted with all the photos from these calendars and I am anxious already about receiving yet another this xmas.

I'd actually just ask SIL if she'd like one in a text message so she can think up a polite honest response without having to worry about body language being read. You've got her something else as well so there's no worries over spoiling the xmas surprise. "Hey SIL, I'm getting these gorgeous photos of X printed up for grandparents for xmas. Would you like one too?"

l don't have siblings, but one of my cousins is like a sister to me. l always used to ask for a photo of her children at Christmas. They lived a distance away, so l didn't see them regularly, and it was lovely to see how they'd grown every year. lt was always given with another present, but l always looked forward to it. Close family, l think it's fine.

EKGEMS · 09/12/2019 12:14

I did that for Christmas about one hundred years ago when my son was little Winkand it was very well received by family
