To vote Lib Dem?

sweatbomb · 08/12/2019 20:02

Help me out. Are there any glaringly obvious reasons not to vote for them? I've never voted Labour and I don't feel that my previous party aligns with my views... doing online quizzes on my beliefs comes out with majority Lib Dem!

I just hope we get a political change 🤷🏻‍♀️

I you want to remain then I think it is a good choice.

Sn0tnose · 08/12/2019 20:05

Depends on whether or not you believe that women have access to single sex spaces for a reason.

HisBetterHalf · 08/12/2019 20:07

Last time they jumped into bed with the tories and backtracked on all their promises. Liars and wont ever vote for them again

Sexnotgender · 08/12/2019 20:09

I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than vote Lib Dem. Listen to the Jo Swinson interview on women’s hour.

KidLorneRoll · 08/12/2019 20:10

If your local Lib-dem candidate is not going to win, then consider voting tactically. If you want political change, vote for whoever is most likely to keep the tories and their bigoted idiot of a leader out.

Snowjive2 · 08/12/2019 20:10

Depends on whether your vote would threaten a Tory candidate. That must be the priority for this election - get this failing government out!

We’ll have the luxury of voting in line with our more refined personal preferences in the future, but this time those who can must vote tactically.

I’m a member of one of the parties you mention but voting for the other this time, with the aim of getting the Tory out.

littlepaddypaws · 08/12/2019 20:10

ALL political parties lie about EVERYTHING, but i wouldn't touch lib dems if my life depended on it.

EmpressLesbianInChair · 08/12/2019 20:11

If you don’t think that the only difference between men & women is what gender they identify as, Jo Swinson has explicitly stated that they don’t want your vote.

MustardScreams · 08/12/2019 20:11

Look at Jo Swinson’s voting record and see how horrendous she really is.

DappledThings · 08/12/2019 20:11

I have flip-flopped between Labour and Lib Dem all my voting life (22 years). Brexit makes Lib Dem the only choice for me now.

NegroniOnIce · 08/12/2019 20:11

Jo Swinson on the radio the other day referring to 'trans women' and 'cis women'. That was the very moment the LibDems lost my vote.

Brimful · 08/12/2019 20:11

Last time they jumped into bed with the tories and backtracked on all their promises.

This.

Boiledeggandtoast · 08/12/2019 20:12

I think they are receiving a disproportionate amount of criticism. If you like most of their proposals (and nobody agrees with everything a political party is putting forward) then vote for them. I will be!

rhubarbcrumbles · 08/12/2019 20:12

It depends where you are and if you want to vote tactically. I am voting to get the Tories out so if that's what you want then you need to look at who is the best fit for that for your constituency.

littlepaddypaws · 08/12/2019 20:12

kid and corbyns not bigoted ?? bloody hell, he's hardly mother thresea

arethereanyusernamesleftatall · 08/12/2019 20:13

If it gets the Tories out, go for it.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 08/12/2019 20:14

I will vote with whatever the tactical advice is to beat the Tory in my marginal seat. At the moment that looks to be Lib Dem.

1Morewineplease · 08/12/2019 20:18

I usually vote LibDem but I cannot vote for them now. Mostly because of Jo Swinson’s inability to talk with any sincerity ( it’s like she’s just started her Drama GCSE) and her appalling voting record.

SummerSnapdragon · 08/12/2019 20:19

Last time they jumped into bed with the tories and backtracked on all their promises.

This
I would only vote Lib Dem if it was the only way to get rid of a Tory.

Consider things another way- who has the policies to feed the hungry and house the homeless?

AlrightyyThen · 08/12/2019 20:20

I was LibDem a few years ago and same as HisBetterHalf said, they didn't have a backbone or make good on any promises

Also i think voting LibDem this time wouldn't get any results, best bet is to vote Labour if you don't want the Conservatives in because no-one else really stands a chance. It's just tactical voting

I'd probably vote Green going off policies, but will be voting for Labour to derail the Tories.

Lordamighty · 08/12/2019 20:26

Do you believe that men can magically become female by donning a dress & putting on makeup? If you do then the LibDems or Labour are the party for you because they both intend to reform the Gender Recognition Act to allow self ID. No hormones, no surgery, no pesky doctor’s appointments, it will be a brave & stunning new world. Women’s rights will be thrown under the nearest bus but really who cares? Not politicians that’s for sure.

Littletabbyocelot · 08/12/2019 20:31

I think in this election I'd look at who could win in your constituency and vote for the party with a chance that most suits you. Voting for lib dem in a constituency where they have no chance of winning is only worth it if you really don't care which of the other parties win.

Fairenuff · 08/12/2019 20:35

If you want to get rid of safeguarding for vulnerable women and children then Jo's your woman.

Smelborp · 08/12/2019 20:40

My Lib Dem candidate has a strong record in environmental issues, is most likely to beat the Tories which have held the seat for a loooong time. I’m happily voting for them.

LizzieSiddal · 08/12/2019 20:42

I’d hold my nose and vote for whoever keeps the Tory’s out.
