Im not sure if I need to be worried or not about this. I plan on asking the pharmacist advice tomorrow but just asking if anyone has ever had anything similar? The large black toenail has been like that for about 5/6 weeks. The black dot and white line I only noticed today and im freaking out a bit as made the mistake of googling.

Sorry for the manky toes!

Have you dropped something on your toe in the last couple of months? Looks like a bruise to me, but could have been when that bit of nail was further down (if that makes sense?)

The worst pic... I may have dropped something on it but honestly cant remember but it doesnt seem to be growing out. No idea whats going on with my other 2 nails!

If it's not growing out and it's not a bruise then GP straight away and a referral to dermatology.

I've got exactly the same thing on my toe. I got it after wearing inappropriate footwear and walking around Milan for 3 days. I just assumed it was a compression type bruise.

See GP.

Spoilywoily · 08/12/2019 15:41

It Looks like a bruise and is hutchinsons sign negative. I’d book a routine GP appointment OP.

Pollaidh · 08/12/2019 15:45

If not a bruise, then GP appointment - I guess you've already scared yourself looking online, but can be a sign of a cancer underneath

I had a virtually identical bruise on my big toe. Was referred to the hospital and the lovely doctor/consultant took the nail above it off and showed me that it was dried blood.

Bad boots or an injury the likely cause.

sunshine99789 · 08/12/2019 15:50

Looks like GP appointment tomorrow then :( I just didnt want to waste the GPs time.

see the gp, could be a mole that needs to be checked by a dermatologist.

Firstawake · 08/12/2019 16:33

Dried blood from bruising, I get it from wearing shoes that squash my toes!
Oooo, but the shoes look good.Smile

Just an update..managed to see GP this morning, wasn't too concerned. Said it didnt look infected but to keep an eye on it. Had no idea what the black dot was on the other toenail.
