To hang up?

I am job searching at the moment for a temporary postion to cover me the next few months and came across quite an interesting one on the jobcentreplus website so I phoned them up and they ask for your national insurance number etc and then give you job details including contact numbers or address which is usual. So I was given some woman called Carol (management I presume) to call so I did that in my nicest, politest voice and she was really off-hand. She said in a horrid tone 'Why are you phoning me for? The jobcentre should have called me first with your details.' and she said it so nastily as if it was my fault! Then she huffed and puffed and said, 'come in for an interview this afternoon'...errr, it would be nice to ask if I was free in short notice so I promptly hung up.
Was I unreasonable?

i thought you had a job lined up for september?

Theclosetpagan · 22/08/2007 21:33

NYANBU. Would you really want to work for a company who cannot even treat a prospective employee with any civility? Just think what it's like once you get there.

Fireflyfairy2 · 22/08/2007 21:39

Did she really say "Why are you phoning me for?"

And not "What are you phoning me for?"

Such bad grammar.

FairyOnTheChristmasTree · 22/08/2007 21:39

I'm desperate for something before then...anything....even considering a few paper rounds
