Hi all

A month ago we viewed a property that was for sale as the owners have part ex’d it for a new build with persimmon, so technically we are buying the home from persimmon. They had a previous buyer but after a few months they pulled out. They accepted our offer and we paid £99 holding fee to take the property off the market. We were told at the time and in contract that this would be deducted off the sale price at completion.
Solicitors and mortgage ball rolling etc and searches commenced at the beginning of this week. This morning the post comes and a cheque has come from persimmon for the £99 we paid to hold the property?? No letter in it just a compliment slip saying please see enclosed amount of £99.

As I was told that this would be deducted off at completion my stomach instantly turned, solicitors, estate agents and the persimmon office it came from are all closed until Monday.
I’m sat at home now wondering what is going on.

Can anyone shed any light or experience on this?

Praying it’s just a mistake Sad

Just to add we were told the current owners of the house have exchanged contracts on their new build, and we have checked rightmove and the house is still coming up as sold. The cheque was send on the 5th and we haven’t heard anything from solicitors since Tuesday.....
