The 3 biggest mistakes you made

Sunnydays999 · 07/12/2019 07:33

Just wondering as was thinking what I considered a mistake ( getting sacked ) ended up being for the best as I got therapy and a more suitable job.
What others saw as my mistake ( pregnant and married young ) ended up being the right path

My 3 are biggest life mistakes are

  1. living beyond means and the impact it has now
  2. not getting away from toxic people soon enough
  3. feeling I have to prove myself and fit in

A very small number of children have an adverse reaction to vaccines. That's what the vaccine compensation scheme is for @snowybaubles

Putting on weight and ruining a relationship with the person I loved
Not keeping a nasty spiteful person at arms length
Not keeping in touch with a dear friend

So not 3 kids in the same family that happen to have SEN Hmm

The80sweregreat · 07/12/2019 08:53

I do sometimes regret not keeping in touch with old friends but then they didn't bother with me as well so it works both ways!

SansaStarky · 07/12/2019 08:53

Being manipulated into getting married
Letting ex take all my money
Keeping toxic people close

AnnaMagnani · 07/12/2019 08:55

Staying in my job for far too long - getting forced out by bullying turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

Got a nice payout kitchen will be lovely client I worked for created a job for me and I now also have another job, both better paid with amazing people.

Was the best and worst thing that ever happened to me.

  1. Choosing a shit degree course
  2. Buying a shared ownership place (do not do this)
  3. Not mining bitcoin a decade ago
57mama · 07/12/2019 09:07
  1. Waiting to have kids
  2. Choosing a demanding job that meant I had to rely on either childcare or DH
  3. Eating too much as a teen
EggysMom · 07/12/2019 09:11
  1. Not going to university
  2. Then not realising that HE (the one) was asking me about changing my life and not just his
  3. Not leaving Ex sooner
BrieAndChilli · 07/12/2019 09:14
  • Not finishing my degree
  • not being a house when they were giving out 100% mortgages and house prices were affordable. Hitting 40 and we just can’t save enough to put down a deposit on a house while renting and bringing up 3 kids
  • not having more friends.
Orangeblossom78 · 07/12/2019 09:16

Doing a PGCE naively in early 20s as felt it would be nice not knowing the reality of teaching

Not paying enough attention to some of my own medical stuff when DC were small, meaning I needed an emergency op when it could have been easier and more planned.

Beating myself up about any mental health issues, and thinking others would be more understanding.

I guess we can learn from stuff.

Rudolphsjinglebells · 07/12/2019 09:17

Telling myself that I can only rely on myself and being afraid to ask for help from anyone, that I would be a burden if I asked for help.

Putting on a brave face for so long that I've suppressed most of my feelings. Except for feeling anger, I feel numb when I should feel happy or sad etc.

Not going to therapy sooner.

amatsip · 07/12/2019 09:19

@snowybaubles Have you not thought it could be hereditary? My daughter has Aspergers, my MIL said said at her flapping "Oh it's just like her dadda did when he was little".

Back in the day it wasn't identified as much as it is now so a very big chance it could be hereditary.

I don't read research this is from my own child's experience.

1.Marrying at 24 to the first man that treat me right

2.Having too many casual sexual partners in my early 20s

3.That I didn't relax and enjoy my pregnancy

"Getting my younger children vaccinated after my eldest had a severe reaction.

So now I have 3 children with SEN which I caused"

I'm sorry but that is bollocks

Villageidiots · 07/12/2019 09:20

Not going to see my mum in her care home on 16/1/19. She died the following day. I had been the previous day but wish I'd seen her one more time.
Not ceasing contact with some toxic local women sooner.
I can't think of a third!

catwithnohat · 07/12/2019 09:21

3? Which 3 should I choose ...... Confused

Borderterrierpuppy · 07/12/2019 09:22

Ignoring red flags in relationships
Buying tech for kids
Not travelling after uni

Areyoufree · 07/12/2019 09:22

Not getting tickets to see Nina Simone when she played Brighton. Didn't even try, because I was a lazy fecker, and no one else wanted to go. Still wish I'd made the effort.

snowybaubles · 07/12/2019 09:23

@amatsip

I'm not sure what you have tagged me for.

I said it wasn't caused by vaccination, that's all.

I do think there is a genetic link with Autism. I am autistic and so are 2 of my DC, however the poster I responded to just said SEN, she didn't specify ASD, so the genetic angle isn't really relevant.

I wasn't speculating WHY, I was simply saying to lay the blame at vaccinations was bollocks.

Leflic · 07/12/2019 09:25

BlueGingerale

I WILL tell you that you didn't cause your children to have SEN by having them vaccinated.

What bollocks.

Please don’t make trite comments like that. It would be a extremely unlikely that no one reacts to them even if the vast majority are fine. You could equally say hermaphrodites or people allergic to water don’t exists because it’s so unlikely but they do.
My friends child had a very odd ( not saying what because outing) to the flu jab. Not flu like but auto immune.
Of course we should all be vaccinated but equally don’t have a go at the unlucky families who feel it harmed not helped them.

Borderterrierpuppy · 07/12/2019 09:25

Balsamic vin there are occasional children who do have post vaccine injuries. It is very rare but is accepted by the medical establishment.
I am pro vaccine, believe in herd vaccination and all my children have been vaccinated.

snowybaubles · 07/12/2019 09:28

@Leflic

My comment that it's bollocks is no worse then the poster who said the vaccine caused 3 of her children's SEN.
There is research and lack of evidence to back this up.

Of course we should all be vaccinated but equally don’t have a go at the unlucky families who feel it harmed not helped them.

It's important that people get over the idea that vaccines cause SEN. I didn't post to have a go, it's about awareness. People need to know this isn't what happened.

Thestrangestthing · 07/12/2019 09:29

Leaving school too young. Never sticking with a college course. I was allowed to do whatever I like with my education, no one tried to persuade me to stick in or bieve in myself. When it came to going out with friends though, I was kept on a tight leash.

Staying with my now dp. I love him and he loves me but he has a gambling problem and with that comes lies. He is also a bit unaware of how his action affect others (his childhood was shit so can struggle to understand how to discipline the kids and interact with them like an adult)

Allowing someone to make me miss the last few minutes of my grans life.
