Critique these body measurements honestly 32-26-34

Yummytummygummy · 06/12/2019 08:10

Mumsnet is only place I can ask this and get straight, honest responses.

So asking for your blunt opinions on bust 32, waist 26, hips 34. Think thigh is about 19 at biggest point. Small, big, good, bad or somewhere in middle?

Just trying to work out if I need to go on my annual pre Xmas diet and for once want to go on measurements not weight! But struggle to know what good normal is with all media/insta bodies!

5ft5 if relevant. Thanks!

OP posts:
Echobelly · 06/12/2019 11:40

My measurements are about 32, 30 and, I dunno, maybe 36, I'm just over 5ft and I am not going on any diets or giving a shit what anyone thinks about my body.

Damntheman · 06/12/2019 11:46

Measuring thighs isn't that weird in the scope of it. I use measurements to track my fitness instead of weight and I measure chest, waist, hip, thigh and bicep.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 06/12/2019 11:51

For the sake of this thread, I measured my thigh. It is 30".

I am overweight, yes. My thigh is like a leg of ham, yes.
But it is also extremely muscly and strong and allows me to lift some seriously heavy shit, and power me to some excellent achievements.

So now what OP? I have legs literally almost twice the size of your, Does that make me a bad person or someone who needs critiquing for it? (rhetorical question as hopefully you aren't the sort to behave like that; and therefore hopefully you can see why we are refusing to play along with your harmful request to critique you)

PhoneLock · 06/12/2019 11:57

I think the OP is right porker. I'm taller and my waist is two inches less, so she must be.

DilemmaADay · 06/12/2019 12:01

I read that the ideal body measurements once were 34-24-34 ...my waist is around the 27 inch mark, so 3 inches bigger.
I'm a size 6-8 and barely graze 8 stone on the scales but according to that set of measurements I have a "large" waist. It's a load of bollocks. Dont let then define you OP, you sound great!!

jamdhanihash · 06/12/2019 12:03

'Critique' ffs 🙄. You must be lost OP. Get this taken down.

AnyFucker · 06/12/2019 12:05

Op...which is it ?

Are you 1) the repeat teeny tiny annoyance who keeps posting shit about how titchy she is, or inviting others to do it

  1. suffering from an eating disorder
ShinyGiratina · 06/12/2019 12:07

Objectively they are the measurements of a slim person. How slim will depend on your build, bone structure, muscle density. How healthy that is will depend on diet and exercise.

Mentally, knowing statitistics about your body is not a problem in itself. However, unrealistic expectations that are not feasible with a balanced diet (that takes into account life factors such as Christmas) and exercise and taking things to extremes to attain and maintain is a major problem. Comparing yourself to other people and using that to judge your worth is a problem. Comparing yourself to other people's disordered lifestyles and photoshopped images to judge your worth is a major problem.

Being a healthy size to live a healthy life in body and mind is great. Having small numbers of weight/ measurement with an unrealistically draconian lifestyle is very unhealthy.

OP, I had/have a mother like yours sounds. She has always been of very slight frame, was rationed during the war and even now, approaching 90, she has a great figure. She is (and my father was too) scathing of anyone who lacked the self control and will power to be as tiny as she is (although you can do nothing about frame size).

It's extremely difficult to "just ignore" the person who's brought you up and whose views are understandably entrenched in something so significant.

Please be assured that you have no need to diet at all. I promise.

CharityDingle · 06/12/2019 13:14

If you have genuine concerns, please seek the help of a health professional.

isseywith4vampirecats · 06/12/2019 13:27

same measurements as me and same height and all my friends call me a skinny bitch you definitely do not need to go one a diet unless you want to go to an underweight not good for you BMI

MrsNoMopp · 06/12/2019 13:31

YABU. You have a human body like everyone else. However you sound too concerned about your shape and this could indicate a treatable anxiety disorder. You really shouldn't be worrying about this. See your GP and take care.

79andnotout · 06/12/2019 13:52

I had an eating disorder until I was 30. I am now 40. I opened this and read it and thought, fuck that. There's more to life than knowing your statistics. The most I do anymore is squint in the mirror and make sure my overall shape is what's normal for me. I eat for health and enjoyment and exercise for mental stability. You can fully recover from a long history of eating disorders and I wish my younger self knew this. Focusing on what you look like is both boring and miserable.

JasonPollack · 06/12/2019 13:55

Mumsnet is honestly turning into a pro-ana community. If my teenage daughter came out with any of the things I read on here on a day to day basis I would be so concerned.

Trinighana · 06/12/2019 14:22

Sarcasm...

What an odd and attention seeking post.

maybebabyagain · 06/12/2019 14:29

I’m 36-23-36. 5’10 and size 8-10
But I don’t measure my thighs as they are very cellulitey and wobbly despite being slim and I actually don’t look good in summer I prefer winter so can wear jeans and hold the ‘skinny fat and saggy skin’ in 🤣

Ginfordinner · 06/12/2019 14:29

Oops. Apologies @Trinighana
Am convalescing and my brain isn't working properly Blush

FestiveFavourites · 06/12/2019 14:30

You are tiny.

As well you know.

Stop stealth boasting about your petite figure and work on your self-esteem.

maybebabyagain · 06/12/2019 14:30

Oh and don’t diet pre Xmas .... makes you wrinkly in the face I always look better if I can get a few pounds on it means you don’t start to consider Botox

feelingverylazytoday · 06/12/2019 14:31

My 19 year old daughter has very similar measurements to you, OP, except she is 3" shorter. She is also slightly underweight.
Please do not even think about 'going on a diet' either before or after Christmas.

Orangeblossom78 · 06/12/2019 17:47

I am sure I remember having a 24 inch belt when I was in Brownies in the 80s. I must have been, what 8?

Solihooley · 06/12/2019 17:49

You need to ask if a 26 inch waist is normal, big or small? Really?!
