To sell my kids’ magformer collection

We invested in a very large magformer set for our kids two years ago. They have barely played with it and I personally find them quite restrictive and geared towards specific constructions.
I am now thinking of selling it but I am wondering if I will regret this. Has anyone had any good use of theirs? Maybe I am missing something because they clearly are popular.
Thanks!!

How old are the kids? Have you asked them if thry like you to sell it so thry can get something else with the money?

They are nearly ten and six. I don’t think they even remember it’s there as we have been storing it in the attic. But yes, the purpose would be to invest in something else. Hard to judge because if I mention it now they won’t want me to sell I’m sure!

Why don't you take it down from the attic and see if they play with it?

It might just not be their thing. My two (particularly DS) have gotten enormous value out of Magformers but they're not that fussed about Lego, for some reason, despite various family members trying to encourage them in it. Different kids are different! Sell it and get something that suits them better.

Well yeah, it seems rather silly to store a toy away so the kids can't play with it and then just sell it without giving them the option to have grown into it.

Get it down, ask if they want to play with it or sell it but tell them money will go into another Iong term toy

Sleeping, the box was in our living room for ages and they barely played with it, so we stored it away to declutter.
But I suppose that was nearly a year ago so we could bring it back down to try again..

Maybe have it as a ‘holiday’ toy, just take it away on holiday with you it’s like a new toy they only have on holiday so more likely will play with it. Magformers keep their value you can always sell it or donate it in a few years. We have ‘GoGo gears’ as our holiday toy.

I think magformers are great. My ds loves them but he is also mad for Lego and mechano. My rule in this house is unwanted toys get put away for a trial period. If no one asks about them for a period of time they get donated or given to a family member

I like the idea of a holiday toy, thank you. I suppose we can always wait with selling it.
