With a passport that expires 21 June 2020
latest flying out 24th december, 7 days only.
Would IBU to risk this?

Why wouldn’t you ??? I don’t get it ?
I went to Madrid for work with a day left on my passport over summer had no issues

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 04/12/2019 15:18

Um. What's the risk?

savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:20

Do you have to have 6 months on the passport? I have googled a lot with conflicting reports,

Someone wants to boast about going on Christmas holidaysGrin

AllergicToAMop · 04/12/2019 15:21

@savethecat not in EU

scaryteacher · 04/12/2019 15:23

We are still in til 31st Jan 2020, so you will be OK. We have to come back to Brussels in January for something, and I'll renew my passport after that as it runs out in March.

Some Member States are saying passports OK with 3 months left, the EU saying 6 months.

savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:23

Ah, the hitch is I live here but don't have a UK passport. It's near impossible to get any contact points to ask

Oh sorry, didn't realise it's not a UK passport. I can't help in that case!

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 04/12/2019 15:24

Might help if you say in which country the passport was issued...

savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:25

Sorry, Aussie.

OP posts:
AllergicToAMop · 04/12/2019 15:25

@savethecat is it a non EU passport? Check with the country you plan to travel to.

savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:26

I see a rush job renewal in my future.

Anyway for everyone else is it 3 or 6 months? Such a confusing time!

Footiefan2019 · 04/12/2019 15:26

Well that’s a completely different ballgame. Bit bizarre it’s taken you several posts to mention.

Footiefan2019 · 04/12/2019 15:26

Maybe ring Spanish embassy

Footiefan2019 · 04/12/2019 15:27

Or whichever place you’re going’s embassy meant to say

savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:27

I actually didn't think it would make a difference and then realised it might, stupid, I know,

savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:27

Thanks for your advice everyone!

OP posts:
SnuggyBuggy · 04/12/2019 15:30

I didn't know you weren't supposed to do this

savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:31

We are talking 10 days. I imagine we would be back at the latest the 31st. What a pain! I think you lose the 6 months now too :(

OP posts:
savethecat · 04/12/2019 15:33

10 days after the 6 months I mean.

OP posts:
AllergicToAMop · 04/12/2019 15:35

I think it is 6 months from the return date. However, I also think it can be different depending on your status in UK. So certainly call embassy of the country you want to travel to. Or send them an email.
