To want to have a relationship with this man?

I play an online game, all fairly time-wasting. But one of the options is to play against others. This generally happens with no contact between you but the game has a chat function.

So yesterday I had a message from someone wanting to start a conversation. He’s an American, currently working over here for the C.I.A. And he’s spent 35 years in the military. Here on top secret business which he’s felt the need to share with me within the confines of the chat functionality of the game.

Is widowed and lonely and never has time for dating, and has never spoken to anyone like me before, I am a breath of fresh air....

So obviously he’s completely genuine. I mean what could possibly be wrong with that? Poor lonely man stuck in the UK on secret business which he isn’t allowed to discuss? Well apart from with me obviously.

So, would IBU to pursue a possible relationship with him?

Only pursue a relationship after you've transferred him the contents of your bank account, all your credit card details and sent him pictures of your bobs.

He sounds like a keeper. Send him this way if you change your mind?

AnniePankettonne · 04/12/2019 10:22

You have a great sense of humour.

NameChangeNugget · 04/12/2019 10:23

Nice story bro Biscuit

CigarsofthePharoahs · 04/12/2019 10:25

Good luck op, I'm sure it's true love. I'm currently in a relationship with a Nigerian prince. He's having some money transfer issues though.

OhMsBeliever · 04/12/2019 10:28

Ooh, a Mumsnet wedding! You should definitely date him.
I'm buying a hat already. Grin

pumpkinpie01 · 04/12/2019 10:31

Oh what fun you can have winding him up !

PawPawNoodle · 04/12/2019 10:31

I'm not so sure OP, can you deal with the whirlwind lifestyle of being a CIA wife?

Ginkypig · 04/12/2019 10:31

Aw I hear marriage bells Xmas Grin

On a serious note though don't forget to report the player to the game as obviously not everyone will be a savvy as you.

for anyone who believes such a thing please be aware this is a thread to hilight a malicious internet scam tries to defraud women of their saving using what has been sad in the opening post please do not give money or enter into dodgy relationships to strangers on the internet

rattusrattus20 · 04/12/2019 10:34

myusernamewastakenbyme · 04/12/2019 10:38

Ohh this is fab....id love to string along one of these scammers...i look on it as a public duty...as whilst he is messaging me he has less time to be scamming someone else.

HollowTalk · 04/12/2019 10:39

Rab C Butler was probably more like it!

rattusrattus20 · 04/12/2019 10:40

If you're playing one of these games, it's best to pass yourself off as a youngish man, you'll get far, far fewer unsolicited approaches from strangers.

HollowTalk · 04/12/2019 10:40

I'd string him along, too. One of these days, he'll lose his wallet and ask you for money.

AlternativePerspective · 04/12/2019 10:42

Aparrently he’ll be going out of the country next week. So I’m guessing I won’t hear from him for a while, until his injury. Grin Wink

He does have a son though, he’s in “board schoo” that’s got to be a typo right? Grin

For those calling bullshit and sending Biscuit emoticons, I think it’s fairly clear that this isn’t meant to be a serious thread? I mean of course people do get sucked in by these types, but I’ve never posted anything other than cynically.

Zaphodsotherhead · 04/12/2019 10:42

Oh oh, does he bear an ASTONISHING resemblence to someone in the US government or an actor? Is he perhaps, widowed, with one son?

At least yours is in the CIA. Mine are all just serving somewhere in the Middle East. I usually let them get in two messages (the second always tells me that I'm gorgeous and we have a future) and then I hit them with 'oh, but first I need your bank details so I can check you are genuine.'

Funnily enough I don't hear from them after that. Shame. I really fancied the one who looked EXACTLY like the then US Secretary of State...

MashedSpud · 04/12/2019 10:48

He will soon be kidnapped and the ransom will be the price of your house.
Then his kids will be taken hostage and he will need to “borrow” your life savings for their safe return.

Aposterhasnoname · 04/12/2019 10:50

Ooo, op, by a staggering coincidence I’ve just been contacted by an American chap who’s dying of cancer, his wife and child were both tragically killed in a car crash last year and he wants to leave me his millions in the hope I will distribute it to good causes. Your suitor sounds exactly like the kind of person I should donate the money to. Should he unexpectedly need some cash let me know, I’ll be happy to donate.

JuneFromBethesda · 04/12/2019 10:51

Tell him what a coincidence, you work for MI5 😄

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 04/12/2019 11:12

Do it OP. I did with mine and we were so in love. It ended tragically when he was parachuted at short notice into a secret destination at great threat to life and limb and I can only assume he didn't make it as I never heard from him again It was just so unfortunate that this happened right before we were due to meet for the first time. I can still remember our last conversation, when I complained to him about my overdraft, the dog's vet bills and the price of Asda's parsnips and how I couldn't wait for us to be a blended family. Perhaps I should have waited to mention the quads...

Anyway OP, you too could have a tragic lost love like mine with a totally authentic guy who can see your very soul through your gaming skills.

puds11 · 04/12/2019 11:14

Mr Right does exist!!!! He’s the one for sure, I can feel it!

AnniePankettonne · 04/12/2019 11:18

@rattusrattus20 , he even has a red flag !

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 04/12/2019 11:24

He will be asking for a small loan in 3...2...1!

Bartlet · 04/12/2019 11:25

Sooo jealous. I really want a foreign spy boyfriend - preferably one with a horribly complicated and unfortunate back story. Why can’t I get lucky like you.....

DioneTheDiabolist · 04/12/2019 11:44

OMG OP, I think I know him and he is perfect for you.😍 Have you replied yet? Please give him a chance and update us all as to how you're getting along.

You need to totally go for this because this sort of love is a once in a lifetime thing.Xmas Grin
