to get my first ever Hollywood Wax at age 40?

And if so, why? If not, have you any tips as I'm a little bit apprehensive? Confused

Full disclosure: I'm planning to get it done later this week anyway but am interested in others' experiences.

I've shaved for 25 years - never for anyone else (or because I or anyone I was with was influenced by porn) but because I prefer it.

I'm sick of shaving though and am getting everywhere else waxed so thought I'd give it a go.

Have I gone quite mad or could this become part of a new regular routine?

You’ll be fine. It last for ages too.

fancytiles · 04/12/2019 05:54

Do it!! Take paracetamol/neurofen 30 mins before if you're not good with pain (I'm not!)

lifeisgoodagain · 04/12/2019 05:59

I did. It hurts! I've waxed my legs for 25 years but it is painful compared to that. I don't do it often, but for holidays I have it done then maybe 2-3 times throughout the year, I don't feel the need to be bare, but it keeps it neat if you periodically wax

Titsywoo · 04/12/2019 10:45

If you can grow it for a while it tends to come out better and easier

2littleChicks · 04/12/2019 10:51

First one will hurt - after that it'll hurt much less. I've been doing it around 6 years now and barely flinch plus the results are amazing.
I would recommend using hot wax and not strips. See what your therapist is offering.

Poetryinaction · 04/12/2019 10:54

I found it excruciating and intensely embarrassing.

WonderWomanBra · 04/12/2019 16:44

Go for it!I have been having a hollywood wax for years and the regrowth now is almost next to nothing which is great! It is so much more better than shaving trust me,you'll soon find it.

ballsdeep · 04/12/2019 16:46

What is a Hollywood? Is it all off or the landing strip? I need mine done as I'm heavily pregnant and can't see anything but not sure what to ask for!!

lorn195 · 04/12/2019 16:49

@ballsdeep a Hollywood
it's all off, including around the bottom area

GinAndTings · 04/12/2019 16:51

Try to find a Kim Lawless trained therapist if you can... 7 strips and your done. Excellent.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 04/12/2019 16:53

Interesting. I would be far too self-conscious to do it. I have a bloody jungle and it spreads down further than it should. No. Never!

Sticking with hair removal cream

SpruceTree · 04/12/2019 16:57

No no! You need an IPL. No pain, brilliant results. IPL every time, you can use it every where too - no more shaving or waxing etc.

JeSuisPrest · 04/12/2019 17:01

If you're shaving make sure you've got enough growth for the wax to get hold of. I think they recommend at least 5mm/grain of rice length.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 04/12/2019 17:46

I thought IPL's were painful to use?
