AIBU to ask you about alternatives to Christmas?

Has anyone got any suggestions? I don't drive and live on my own. I don't want to go and work for a charity all day and I can't afford to go away. Mostly I just pig out in front of the telly. If the weather's good I might go for a walk. What's a good way to avoid Christmas?

All the Chinese restaurants around me are full. Local Jewish people and Chinese people go so it's fun but not Christmassy!

Can I ask why not a charity? I've worked several Christmases in shelters and it can be fun.

How do you get to work in shelters? And which ones? I don't have any particularly professional skills. But I'd like to volunteer this year. Would much rather be doing something worthwhile.

Well I've either worked in them or volunteered at non-Christmas times so I don't know if you haven't. Crisis at Christmas is normally good to look at!

It's my first Christmas alone this year as my kids are with their father. I fully intend to remain in my pyjamas, pig out and watch non festive box sets! Sounds perfect to me.
