To ask if it's normal to look 'fatter' after losing weight

I haven't been trying to lose weight for very long, a few months, but my trousers are looser and my boobs feel a bit smaller. Thing is that I feel I look fatter in my reflection. I feel messier as I'm always having to pull my trousers up whilst I guess everything was bigger but fitted my clothes better.
When do I start to feel amazing and 'slinky?' I started out as a big 16 and am now just about a 14 so a long way to go.

It’s just because you’re obsessing. I mean you can’t look fatter if you’re thinner

Milkandcreaminmine · 02/12/2019 18:31

@Solitaryradiator I think that might be part of it, I keep looking to see if there's any change but I think I look worse!

I always feel like that. At 11 stone, I feel fat, at 10.7, I feel even fatter, at 10.5, I feel great and at 10.2, I feel proper slinky. You just have to keep going.

Milkandcreaminmine · 02/12/2019 18:37

Thanks @RuggyPeg you're doing amazing! I'm 13st, loads to go. I'm aiming for 12 stone first.

Skinny fat. Do toning exercises/weights.

SeasonalVag · 02/12/2019 18:59

I think your body gets more jiggly as the weight comes off. The fat's less solid.

But congratulations... I'd love to be a 14

I get noticeably wobbly and flabby as I lose weight and takes a while to firm up again at a smaller size.

charm8ed · 02/12/2019 19:01

Maybe you need to buy a few new clothes to compliment your new shape. I know clothes are difficult when you are losing weight as you want to delay buying anything until you’ve got to your target weight but sometimes it’s worth buying a few bits so you feel good about yourself. Some new jeans or a pair of dark trousers perhaps?

Brimful · 02/12/2019 19:04

I know what you mean, I feel 'fatter' now at 8ish stone than when I was obese because I have loose skin after losing so much weight.

Could it be anything similar?

jaggynettle · 02/12/2019 19:09

Buy smaller clothes! I used to be a generous 18 but am down to a 14 for now. I got stuck in the habit of still wearing my old clothes. Buy smaller ones and get comfortable with your new shape 😊 Well done with your weight loss 👍🏼

Water weight and loosing actual fat are two different things. Its likely you've lost one but not the other - they both happen at different times

CFlemingSmith · 02/12/2019 19:14

Stop weighing, start measuring.
Knowing you've lost an inch/2 inches off your legs etc will make you feel better than knowing you've lost a couple of lbs. and sometimes you'll lose inches but no lbs
