So this one was going round the pub the other night and I thought it was a lot of fun. And actually quite thought provoking. So... can you guess my age from these 5 facts.

  1. I legally bought cigarettes at 16... and had them in the smoking room at work.
  2. my first concert was a Smash hits tour headlining Sean Maguire and Boyzone
  3. I paid tuition fees at university
  4. my favourite outfit as a pre-teen was from tammy girl
  5. I have no IT qualifications, including GCSEs. I never had a dedicated 'IT' subject on my school timetable.

So what year was I born???

And play along... :)

@TheQueensCousin - Off topic but I was chatting to an old school friend the other day about school children going home for lunch and we were wondering when it was phased out. When we were in primary school (mid 80s) it was very common and I used to as I hated school dinners. I remember just walking out of the school at lunchtime to go home on my own aged 6 or 7. Seems inconceivable now!

StoneColdSaidSo · 02/12/2019 20:52

I’m 1980 and we had IT at school

TerpsichoreanMuse · 02/12/2019 20:54

TheQueensCousin · 02/12/2019 20:58

@Eastie77 Yes that's what I remember too! I think initially my DM used to collect me but eventually I just wandered home. I have a very distant memory of being late back home for lunch or was it late back to school for the afternoon! Anyway I was late! But no health and safety then, five or six years old and taking myself off home! No one would think of doing that now 😊

Actionhasmagic · 02/12/2019 21:01

This is a good game. I guessed 1980! Tammy girl was the clue

GInfordinner, I think I was misled by the decimal currency.

(Have you watched the new series of the Crown, I was so moved by the Aberfan episode. I remember watching the awful coverage on TV at the time but not being able to make head or tail of the blurry, confusing black and White footage. The reconstruction on the Crown brought the whole awful story alive visually, and it was pretty hard going.)

Here we go

There was still some rationing when I was born
I and every other child in the country took the 11 plus
I remember Kennedy’s assassination
I was too young to vote at 18
I was taught to put my baby to sleep on his stomach

MsPepperPotts · 02/12/2019 21:12

@Ginfordinner 1956 same age as me? Halloween Grin

MoreToEatMoreToDrink · 02/12/2019 21:15

I’d say same age as me. We had it lessons but I didn’t have to do a GCSE in it. So 35!

itssquidstella · 02/12/2019 21:16

Sounds similar to me and I was born in 1985.

itssquidstella · 02/12/2019 21:16

Oh but I did have IT lessons so maybe 1982/3?

Andysbestadventure · 02/12/2019 21:20

I'm 1986 and that all still sounds normal to me. We had a smoking room at work when I was 19 still 🤷‍♀️
