Wibu to keep these Xmas decs up all year?

I know they’re ridiculous but they make me happy. I got them a couple of weeks ago and they’ve been up since then but already feeling sad that it won’t be long until they’re consigned to the loft for 11 months.

They’re not actual Christmas decorations and they were relatively expensive. Also it’s in my room, I don’t have a partner so no one else has to endure them apart from my cat and he seems fairly ambivalent.

I would

Dfg15 · 02/12/2019 12:51

I love those ! I'd keep them up

HollyBollyBooBoo · 02/12/2019 12:51

Try it but like most things they'll become like wallpaper over time - you just won't see them!

Putting them up for a short period of time makes them special because it's finite.

ScreamingValenta · 02/12/2019 12:51

Why not, if they make you happy?

The time to take ornaments/decorations down is when they start to blend into the scenery and you no longer notice them - if they are giving you pleasure, keep them up.

peachgreen · 02/12/2019 12:51

Ohhh where did you get them?! They're fabulous!

GonnaBeMaayy · 02/12/2019 12:52

Very cool. YANBU

LaurieFairyCake · 02/12/2019 12:53

Those are the Henry 8 wives?

KurriKurri · 02/12/2019 12:53

They are completely fab - I have decoration envy - where did you get them? (and yes keep them up all year)
I bought some plain wooden snow flakes from tiger, and my (adult) DD has painted them and stuck gems etc on them - they loo really lovely, I'm contemplating making them a permanent decoration - or at least bringing them out whenever it snows Grin

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/12/2019 12:56

I wouldn’t, but that’s purely because I’d have a constant earworm:

ShinyNewNameTime · 02/12/2019 12:56

Yes, Henry and his wives. I was a teensy bit disappointed that two of them didn’t have detachable heads.

They probably will just become background things fairly quickly. But for now I think I’ll keep them out. I’m going through a divorce and have a bedroom that’s all my own for the first time in forever and just living the fact I can do what I like with it. Incredible sense of freedom.

Perhaps you could keep them out until the first day of spring, and make them your winter decorations rather than just Christmas decorations. They have a cosy, winter vibe to me.

NeedAnExpert · 02/12/2019 13:02

My Xmas lights stay up all year. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TinklyLittleLaugh · 02/12/2019 13:05

A couple of Christmases ago we put simple white fairy lights, leftover from a party, round the edge of our living room and kitchen ceilings. They looked so nice we have just left them up ever since.

Limensoda · 02/12/2019 13:17

They are decorative and nothing to do with Christmas so keep them there.
I want some!....where can I get them?

ShinyNewNameTime · 02/12/2019 20:33

screaming that’s a good idea. I normally replace the candles on the mantelpiece with shells in spring so I could move them too then. You’re right, they’re definitely wintery.

limensoda I got them from the shop at the Tower of London

I have to get them for my dd, she will adore them!

NemophilistRebel · 02/12/2019 20:37

A few select ones of mine stay up all year round

I have a few of those. But they are Christmas ornaments - I got them off a christmas tree at an English Heritage castle shop. Keep them out if you like but I think they look a bit odd just hanging there.

Monkey500 · 02/12/2019 23:10

I think they would be more appropriate for Valentines TBHGrin

Thestrangestthing · 02/12/2019 23:14

If it makes you happy do it. I love the books in the fire place!
