Ishoos.

MarshaBradyo · 01/12/2019 20:32

Shoos

Brimful · 01/12/2019 20:33

Ish-shoe. I think. Sort of.

NuffingChora · 01/12/2019 20:33

Ishoos. Iss-yous makes my skin crawl.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 01/12/2019 20:34

Ish-shyous. I hate iss-yous.

NannyR · 01/12/2019 20:34

Ishoos

PlutoAjder · 01/12/2019 20:38

It's down to your accent.

Iss-yoos is high/traditional/old style received pronunciation (think akin to The Importance of Being Earnest). Ish-oohs is more modern from the same accent or most other UK accents & dialects.

Same sounds/rules as in tissues, suit, tube, etc.

CatSmize · 01/12/2019 20:40

Ishoos.

PonderTweek · 01/12/2019 20:43

Shoos. My husband has suddenly started saying iss-yoos and he sounds like a politician. Confused

AlmostAlwyn · 01/12/2019 20:43

I'm going to come in and say neither. I say ish-yous!

7Worfs · 01/12/2019 20:44

Ishoos, but I’m not a native speaker.

I also pronounce schedule sKedule, which I know is the American way.

amusedbush · 01/12/2019 20:44

Ish-oo. Iss-you sounds affected.

SaveTheTreesPlease · 01/12/2019 20:45

Ish-yous! And I’ve never heard anyone say it ish-oos in my life!

BackforGood · 01/12/2019 20:45

Ish-yous

I've only ever heard iss-ooos in the last few years, and then only on TV

AgnesNaismith · 01/12/2019 20:45

ISH ISH ISH......when the hell did everyone on TV start with the Isssssssssssewes???

balalalala · 01/12/2019 20:45

LemonRedwood · 01/12/2019 20:45

Neither as well - ish-yous

Fraggling · 01/12/2019 20:47

'I'm going to come in and say neither. I say ish-yous!'

Me too

missmouse101 · 01/12/2019 20:48

Problems or concerns. I can't bear the overused 'issues'.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 01/12/2019 20:50

it varies depending on your accent.
Similarly some people pronounce suit with a sort of ssss.yoooo-t way. other pronounce it simply sssss-oooo-t.

ColdRainAgain · 01/12/2019 20:55

Ish-yous

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 01/12/2019 20:57

My husband has suddenly started saying iss-yoos and he sounds like a politician.

My husband does this with words as well. It makes me want to poke him in the eye.
Do you remember when Benedict Cumberbach (how do you spell it?) narrated a nature programme and pronounced penguins as 'penh wings'.
I told DH, and a month or so later when we happened to bring up penguins - that's how he pronounced it. And denied all knowledge of our conversation.
We haven't spoke of penguins since.

There's other things as well. Anything with a u
Stew would be stoo.
So annoying

So that's what I meant.
